From an inescapable oubliette deep in the bowels of an ancient castle emerge the Instruments for Interpretation (Cognition (USA) & Evil Eye Scream (Austria) blending trip-hop like atmospheres and beats with vocals that touch on topics ranging from the downfall of commercial radio to a dragonflies final minutes on the planet. Their debut As We Enter this Maze dubbed Epic-Hop by some who have heard it features production entirely by Evil Eye Scream with words by Cognition. Guest vocals were donated by Ceschi (Anonymous Inc, Toca) and Variex.
Evil Eye Scream & Cognition connected via the internet back in 2004 and within weeks released an EP entitled 'Nameless' that showcased three tracks from each artists current catalog of the time. Evil Eye Scream then produced 'Sinkhole' that appeared on "Golem" (the flesh) Cognitions 2nd full length album. Sometime later an idea was dredged up from various past conversations and emails, the idea of working together on a full length album together. As We Enter the Maze is the end result of over a years worth of work from the boys of I.F.I. and they hope you enjoy every minute of it! Epic-Hop!!!
When asked about I.F.I. while on line for coffee at a local Dunkin Donuts where many of the lyrics for the album were written Cognition said "Evil Eye's beats are like nothing I've ever heard before and they are certainly like nothing I've ever written to or rapped over before. They brought things out of me that I never expected! My words are the Billy Goat his beats are the bridge unfortunately life is the troll that delayed the album this long!"
