About Me

"An Artist Grows in Midtown"
It’s hard to believe a guy like Ken Webb exists and that we all don’t know about him. He is currently shopping a remarkable film he made called “World Wide Webb”, a journey that began for Ken in 1999. The film follows Mr. Webb as he executes an amazing idea. Simply put, the idea was to use the internet as an entrée to discover and contact different bands in different countries in various styles of music and invite them to play his original songs with him as a part of a musical adventure documentary film. The result of which is a feature film loaded with music, comedy, and “heart” leaving audiences glowing with admiration at this inspiring feat.
Ken has also recently made available on Itunes a full length recording called “Let Love Grow” which is the fourth CD backed by his all-star band which he culled from the various groups he encountered in the film World Wide Webb.
Ken Webb has been an independent recording artist for 20 years with a vault of hundreds of songs. 9 records are currently available through his website www.kenwebbsite.com and 3 albums are currently available on Itunes.
He has independently financed his entire music career with his work as a television writer/producer/composer/editor which he has been doing since graduating NYU film School in ’92. Ken’s thesis film, "The Waiters" won top awards at The Chicago, Columbus International, Suffolk County and NYU’s First Run Film Festivals and was a finalist for the Student Academy Award. It aired nationally on Bravo, IFC, PBS and CBS as well as numerous foreign TV networks. And it is still a favorite film for professors to screen for classes at NYU to this day.
Based on this film, Ken was hired by VH1 as a writer/producer of on-air promos. After about 4 years staff at VH1, Ken left for a freelance life and has not gone back since. As a freelancer, Ken’s laundry list of clients include MTV, Nickelodeon, Showtime, TMC, IFC, AMC, Bravo, ESPN, and Nick at Nite.
Along the way Ken’s musical life has slipped into his promo world and the result has been the composition of songs for Showtime, Nickleodeon, VH1, and Nicktoons Network. Ken even appeared on camera singing a number of songs he wrote for Nick at Night’s re-launch of the Mary Tyler Moore Show. And for the past couple of years Ken has been working as a video editor on a freelance basis with Nicktoons Network. Webb has won 3 industry Promax awards, one as a writer/producer, one as composer, and one as editor.
Before film school, Ken (a native New Yorker) was an actor and starred in an NBC holiday special "Our Christmas Alien," which was the lead-in for The Cosby Show in 1985 - back when Cosby was a monster hit. Plus he learned to ballroom dance alongside Jennifer Lopez, when they were both 16-year-old kids in the Bronx in a production of “My Fair Lady.” And finally, Ken was a founding member of a comedy group while at NYU. A group later known as MTV’s “The State”.
