Band Members: Kelie Miley, Artistic Director/Class Instructor Born and raised in Savannah Georgia, Kelie has worked in childrens theatre for the past thirty years, first as a child, then as a professional. As a child she performed under the direction of Savannah favorite, Tom Coleman. She received her BFA from California State in Los Angeles with a B.F.A. in theatre and is a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts West. Kelie has worked with numerous theatre companies in both performance and direction, bringing her respect for children both as an actor and audience to the process of learning and performing. She was the Artistic Director for Youth of the Monrovia Centre Theatre and then returned to Savannah where she worked as Artistic Director for the City of Savannah for eleven years.
Keena Charbonneau, Music Director, Class Instructor Keena has been involved with theatre in Savannah for the past eight years, serving as musical director for the City of Savannah Leisure Services, Little Theatre, Savannah Theatre, City Lights Theatre, and Savannah Childrens Theatre. She also served as camp administrator for the City of Savannah and Theatre Advocates Group drama camps and creative dramatics classes. Keena has a degree in Music Education with a concentration in Music Therapy.
Jennifer Doubleday, Choreographer/Class Instructor Jennifer has worked with SCT since its debut in 2004. She has studied many dance styles including ballet, jazz for musical theatre, tap, social dance, African, South American and the Horton technique of modern dance. Most recently, she has directed Seussical Jr, Rhythm 'n' Shoes, and The Little Prince, all at SCT. Favorite roles include Sorel in Hayfever, Amy in Company, Mary in The Crucible and Portia in Cinderella. A makeup artist as well, her work can be seen in More Magazine, Morris Publishing Group, The Food Network and many corporate catalogues.
Vann Doubleday, Web Administrator Vann moved to Charlotte, NC from Savannah in '92, graduated from North West School of the Arts in '99 with a major in technical theatre where he headed such projects as Fiddler on the Roof, Giselle, Guys & Dolls and many other ballets and musicals. Past performances include Forever Plaid, Bye Bye Birdie, The Outsiders, Joseph...Dreamcoat and others.He has had the privilege of working with the kids of Savannah Children's Theatre since its inception. He is thrilled to be in the new facility and persue ever-growing possibilities of involving children in theatre.
Cheri Hester, Field Trip Instructor - Cheri is originally from Columbia, Md. where she started dancing, singing and acting at the age of 10. She toured Washington D.C. and Baltimore performing with The Young Columbians, including a performance at the White House for President Carter and Prime Minister Trudeau. Cheri then went to Chicago to obtain her Bachelors Degree in theatre from Northwestern University, where she performed in many commercials and theatrical productions. She then headed for New York City where she spent 10 years performing in many shows, including the Broadway productions of Singin In The Rain, Into The Light, and Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Cheri has spent the last 14 years in Savannah, GA with her husband and four children, where she currently is on staff with Savannah Childrens Theatre and teaches tap and ballet at Gretchen Greene School of Dance.
Megan Youngblood, Class Instructor Megan graduated in 2004 with a BFA in musical theatre and a minor in dance from Catawba College. Upon graduating she toured with the American Family Theatre company for three years as Ellie Cratchit in A Christmas Carol and Cinderella in Cinderella. She has performed, choreographed and taught professionally at various theatre companies around the country including: Lexington Children's Theatre in Lexington, KY, Highlands Playhouse in Highlands, NC, Wild Adventures Theme Park in Valdosta, GA, and Bearcreek Resort in Bryant, IN.
She is very excited to return home to Savannah and to officially become a part of the Savannah Children's Theatre family.
Les Taylor, Vocal Coach Holds a BA from AASU in Applied Music and two years of Graduate School at USF, Tampa, Florida majoring in Vocal Performance. Les has performed in Opera, Light Opera and Musical Theatre and concert since 1964 in California, Washington South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. He has taught voice for over thirty three years and is a member in good standing of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Les has appeared in numerous Musicals and Plays in the Savannah area for more than fifteen years working often with Kelie Miley his favorite director. He also enjoys working with children.
