But who are these mysterious men, you no doubt ask. Well the story of Soundstream is a long and meandering one, following the exploits of two of Manchesters toppermost DJs along two separate winding paths, on to their eventual fateful meeting, teaming-up, and journey ever onwards into a halcyon sunset, br
Jimmy Bell is without a doubt a talent with his electro house style Jimmy can bring life to any dancefloor of any size. Having been introduced to the team in 2007 for the Ministry of Sound Addictive Tour alongside headline StoneBridge, Jimmy became an instant hit with the Mauritius crowd as he brought a new dimension of his cutting edge dj style to the turntables.
With his constant travelling across the globe for events held at Supperclub, Jimmy also find the time to be a photographer for the international magazine DJ Mag having many of his photos primed for the front covers.
Jimmy has become a regular figure for the Ministry of Sound Addictive Tour events in Mauritius and is also one of the resident djs for the Addictive Tour. With his knowledge of the Mauritius party scene he works his magic by producing every week for the Addictive tour Radio Show which is broadcasted on national radio in Mauritius Radioplus and also across the internet via addictivetour.com.
When Jimmy hits the decks the crowds are electrified with his skills and are happy to see him return to Mauritius. A true ladies man Jimmy is also smooth with his mixes and performances. Jimmy is also responsible for bringing events to Supperclub with his own label The Garage Council.
With an array of talent behind this man one other important note is that he was responsible for putting together some tracks for the movie It's all Gone Pete Tong, and forging his talents with producer Nick Hussey, together Jimmy and Nick are Soundstream bringing you some of the best house music. Soundstream re-worked Fade to Grey which is a popular hit in Mauritius and fast becoming a hit in Europe.
Nick Hussey is a hard working, jobbing DJ / songwriter / producer / remixer who has been very prolific on the house scene.
It all started for Nick in the hey-day of 1987, and that unforgettable venue, The Hacienda. Nick recalls, “For about three years we had a party every time the Hacienda was open – up to 400 hundred people crammed into two flats.
Eventually we got a pneumatic drill and smashed the walls down and made two flats into one and called it The Kitchens . I started DJ'ing by default really because there was nobody else to put records on. I had no plans to DJ it was more a case that I was the guy who knew what the records were.â€
The whole DJ thing escalated and before Nick knew it, he found himself not only playing records, but also venturing into the world of record production and songwriting. After spinning the decks until the wee small hours, Nick would return to his flat and experiment with his keyboard.
After only having one piano lesson in his life, it's amazing that he came up with one of the catchiest piano hooks connected to the house scene: Awesome3 – Don't Go , was Nick's creation, and reached number 1 in the dance charts! That piano lesson certainly paid off!! After the success of Don't Go , Nick was asked to collaborate with Jodeci , Crystal Waters and even The Charlatans . He has had 9 number 1's in the dance charts, and 3 number 1's in the national charts. Nick is also responsible for tracks such as: Sweet Mercy – Take Me Away , Soft House Co. – What You Want , F.P.I. Project – Rich in Paradise , Blast – Crazy Man , and Living Joy – I'm A Dreamer.
At the same time, Jimmys DJing was seeing him rocketing upwards in both skill and reputation, but he still had somewhere else to go, and his work with The Garage Council had given him an itchy producing finger. (You can see where this is going cant you?)
Meeting through mutual friends, Jimmy and Nick both realised that their current ambitions fitted together perfectly, and their careers were at exactly the right stage for a collaborated producing project to be both creatively successful and really take off.
And thus, finally, Sound-stream music burst into the world, kicking, screaming, and promising all manner of other pleasing noises too. Jetting off immediately around the world to show the planets dancefloors what the new improved team could do, theyve had a string of devastatingly successful DJ sets covering Europe and Americas finest venues. During this period, they met the film producers working on Its All Gone Pete Tong, and bursting with a sense of inertia and purpose, secured themselves an invitation to produce tracks to promote the film on its international web-sites. Bounding back across the Atlantic to the U.K., they shot straight into the studio, where theyve remained, merrily concocting all kinds of new sonic delights through the newfound alchemy their collaboration has brought them, and now have several labels circling them for a chance to take their music out of the studio and unleash it on the world.
And so, in a story that has in many ways come full circle, two Manchester legends have found their way around to each other, meeting at exactly the right time to create something even greater than the sum of their collective parts, and ensuring that the combined gestalt entity that is Sound-stream will stomp forth, across the dance music world for a long time to come.
