well, what about me?
(and BTW, I'm NOT a negative person...)
was born. tried to figure out the world.
got educated. got grades.
got tired. went to "civil service".
got bored.
wasted time, a lot of it.
and now I'm here.
I play bass in two bands, Puny and The Props . I try to paint something once in a while. And I'm also writing some really bad poetry :)
I collect Commodore-computers. I seek intelligent life on Earth. I'm a vegetarian. I like absinthe and trappist-beers. I vote. I listen.
I am.
I've made up a list of 20 influential records. Here they come in no particular order of importance.
Dio: Holy Diver
The very first album I ever bought. Were a favourite back then, but got forgotten for years, and now I can listen to it again without feeling like a nerd. And the favorite song is ofcourse "Holy diver".
Motörhead: Another Perfect Day
The very second album I ever bought. This one has helped me over the years, and took me out of some fierce relationships as well... I have a vinyl and a CD, and I never got tired of this one. Favorite song is "Dancing on your grave".
Nine Inch Nails: Downward Spiral
The one album, that took my mind out of the soft hardrock (the skeleton in my closet from my teenage) and placed it in the real world. Thanks to mr.Reznor for making me see, how grotesque life is. Favorite song has always been "Hurt".
Nirvana: Nevermind
And this is a surprise? Major breakthrough of thoughts and realization about how music should sound. Probably influenced me more than anything. Favorite song is "Drain you".
Pan Sonic: Vakio
The band was then called Panasonic, and this album clearly took my brain to another dimension. Been a huge fan ever since. Favorite piece is "Radiokemia".
Death Angel: Ultra-Violence
This little puppy blew my mind, when I first heard it. Favorite song on album, "Evil Priest", is still pretty damn good.
Depeche Mode: Violator
THE ALBUM. This one actually goes as high as top three on the list of great albums. Nothing to add, nothing to leave out. Favorite song has always been "Enjoy the silence".
Aphex Twin: I care because you do
I was terrified, how unique the sound was, and how I felt listening to it. This album is totally pure and one of the best recordings ever. Favorite piece is "Ventolin".
Iron Maiden: The Number of The Beast
One of the greatest heavymetal albums of all time. Simply just great. I've never given up on Iron Maiden. Favorite song is "Hallowed be thy name".
Discharge: Hear nothing, See nothing, Say nothing
These guys had something to say, and with a fury they really said it. This is how I see the hardcore-punk. Favorite song "Protest and survive".
Merzbow: Tauromachine
It took a while to find noise, because the huge unavailability of records in Finland. This one was the first I acquired, it went through my brain and under my skin, made a home in my heart and filled my thoughts. It was a starting point. Favorite piece is "Emission".
Helmet: Betty
Although "Meantime" was great album, it was Betty that really opened my eyes and ears. It had this rough sound, but beautiful melodies, and it went up in my veins. Favorite song is "Speechless".
Sonic Youth: Washing Machine
They made beautiful records, they acted as one unique power to change the course of musicmarketing, they fought and they won. "Goo" and "Dirty" were great albums, but Washing Machine spoke to me like a god. Favorite song is "The Diamond Sea".
Hardfloor: Dadamnphreaknoizphunk?
Although "TB Resuscitation" is a classic, and one of my favourite dance-albums, it was this EP that really took a step closer to the perfect elektronic music. Favorite piece is "Yimtrop".
Bikini Kill: The C.D. version of the first two records.
Probably the best album ever! My friend had the split-album with the Huggy Bear on vinyl, but I only found this CD from our then-local outlet. Basicly this album is the cornerstone of my musical thinking and as how the music should level with lyrics. Favorite song of all time is and will be "Resist psychic death".
Napalm Death: From Enslavement to Obliteration
The one that took every last breath out of me, when I first heard it. I actually felt dizzy. The opening track "Evolved as one" remains my favorite bit.
Dead Kennedys: Fresh Fruits for Rotting Vegetables
How the punk should be. A great album from the band, that changed it all for me. Favorite song is "Holiday in Cambodia".
Sex Pistols: Never mind the bollocks here's the Sex Pistols
Well, it took me a while to realize, that this album partly actually made me a person that I am today. Though the bands name have gained some negativity, I still can proudly say I'm a huge fan. Favorite song is "Holidays in the sun".
Sielun Veljet: L'amourha
A finnish band, that changed the course of finnish rockmusic. Brilliant and groundbreaking. Favorite song is "On mulla unelma".
Front Line Assembly: Tactical Neural Implant
This is the greatest industrial album there is. It is still valid, it still sounds great, and it still is pure energy. Favorite song is "Mindphaser".
So there, if you were wondering, how someone can get this f*cked up...
