About Me
Oliver’s career in the music industry started in 1989, when he got a job as a DJ in a small club in Hamburg, playing R&B and Hip Hop. Later on different resident jobs in popular clubs in Hamburg kept him busy.
He was playing together with DJs from De La Soul, MC Light etc.From 1995 he worked as a booking DJ rocking the clubs all over Europe.A few years later he met his first production partner Ka$h, which resulted in the successful cooperation and friendship. Together they brought to life projects like House-O-Motic, Wild Switch, Dos Boys etc. which were released by Warner, EMI, Edel and many more other Record Companies. Remixes for Techniotronic (Pump Up The Jam), Sqeezer, Hubert Kah etc. made their names well-known outside Germany!!It was just a matter of time before Oliver started working in other fields of the music industry. The head of the most famous Promotion Company in music industry in Germany – Plattenmann, asked him to work as A&R. His input into promotion brought lots of artists and projects into the German Charts.In 2003 Oliver took the position of A&R at Clubland Records.
Clubland Records resleased big club tunes like Master Blaster -Hipnotic Tango, How Old Are U etc, Avantgarde - Get Down (Again), Ian Carey pres. The Good Guys – Loose Control, Stonebridge – Put ..Em High, Steve..N..King – Bounce, Disco Kings – Born To Be Alive, Sunloverz – Shine On and many more.Under the name of Clubland-Allstars were delivered various remixes, for exmpl. for Disco Kings – Born To Be Alive und Jon Smith – Love Changes.Oliver and his friend, the owner of Clubland Records - Stefan Grünwald, produced their first single together – Alive, with the brilliant vocals of Liz Cunningham. Remixes for this track were made by WAWA and Jerry Ropero.Under the name Oliver Backens&Stefan Grünwald they did remixes for the UK house project
Glamour Katz – Electric Love, which reached UK club charts.At the end of 2006 Oliver brought up the next single „Stupid Love Song“, this time in cooperation with the famous producer and DJ – Jerry Ropero. The vocals of the English singer and songwriter Richard Oliver made this single into something very special.In a new year of 2007 Oliver is looking forward to continue rocking the floors and keep on producing.
