Beats Working

Beats Working is a monthly party that has now been running in Melbourne for over five years. The DJ's play a "no rules" style of breaks, electro and house that has not only rocked the BW dance floor, but Relax, Bamboozled, Earthcore, Rainbow Serpent, Fractured, Revolver and countless others. However, when it comes to Beats Working, it's not only about the music, it's not about the DJ's.....it's about the party!!! The true Beats Working Crew is a community that lives by the party's motto "Dedicated Shenagigans" and gathers once a month to let off steam, catch up with mates and escape the pressures of life. After all, that's where the name comes from. If the beats work, it's beats working...get it? Whenever you meet a member of the BW crew, the word "vibe" always pops up when they talk about the party. It's a hard thing to describe in a bio, so here are a few stories to give you an idea. * Obliveus wearing a kiddies plastic motor cycle helmet and kicking the turntables over at Earthcore. * The "Boats Working" boat party where the captain unplugged the sound system and docked the boat because we were too rowdy. * The filming of the BW documentary when Hans DC played Queen as the last song and tore the roof off. * Lindepenis playing the thongs. * Christy and his super hero outfit, not to mention Hans in his safari suit. * Hans DC nearly electrocuting himself with Scotrod's effects unit. * Scotrod nearly electrocuting himself with a faulty UV light while setting up. * Scotrod's van needing a push start after packing up...on more than one occasion. * Famous footballers standing at the bar staring around like lost little kids. * The "Scottcore" afterparty * Direkt being threatened by other MC's from the commission flats. * Jase the Sound wiz and his special Jager medicine * The bongo playing gang and there arsenal of council bins. * Torgy and his gazoo. * Daniel "Sifter" the doorman and his "I love BW" t shirt. * The shuffling bouncer breaking out during Feigan's set. * Obliveus being threatened by a 3 ft high "little person". * Bliss N Eso jumping on the mic absolutely smashed. * Passing spray bottles around at Two Floors Up due to the crowd and the heat. * Freezing our balls off playing at Kryal Castle with our 'shelter' taking off mid-set * Touring Ballarat another time to arrive at an empty club with a blown sound system, run by a 16 year old kid and his dad. * Touring Warnambool/ Deakin Uni and playing to a Chopper Read look alike. * The St Kilda BW BBQ's with 'gangster bocce' * The Earthcore after party at Obliveus' with Direkt, Scotrod and Eric DJing on the kitchen bench in Hawaiian shirts and sombreros, and then Scotrod getting so drunk he started throwing his records at people. * Phantom Beats playing a surprise set at the BW two year annniversary. * Bogan's Working fancy dress night...
