I'm working as communications (marketing & pr) consultant building up my own agency at the moment. I used to work for the music industry for years at BMG, Sony Music and EMI Music in Austria. My last job was head of marketing and A&R manager at EMI Music Austria. So my life has a lot to do with music. Since i left EMI in April 2006 I rediscovered my favor for DJing and do a lot of DJing now. I've been DJing since my teenages, since 1993 or so. The special thing about my sets is that I don't stick to one style only... I'm no house dj, electro dj or whatever... I play what I like and what I think the people would like to dance to in this moment. So the sets are always fresh and different. I mix old Soul & Funk with some cool Reggae-Dancehall tunes, switch into Balkan-music (like Shantel & Bucovina Club), then into Latin beats (like Sergent Garcia, Manu Chao) through electro sounds (e.g. from the chemical brothers) to indie-sounds (violent femmes, pixies, cure...) and return through hip hop (outkast, fanta4, kelis) to the starting point. so i mix it all and everybody has a good time.

my favorit music ... pfff, hard to tell. It's so much. one of my all time favorit bands is pearl jam.
but i would not say that i am totally into grunge and alternative rock music (i used to be whean i was 16).
at the moment i discover my huge cd- and lp-collection (i have approx. 3.500 CDs and 1.500 LPs) as i have much more time now than before (working in the music industry doesn't leave much time to consume and enjoy music really... I was always stuck to the stuff i was working for). I discovered a lot of great soulmusic, latin music, 70's stuff etc.

Stevie Wonder's "Songs In The Key of Life" for example. I had this record in my collection since 8 years and never really listened to it. I bought it once on a fleemarket on vinyl because I was looking for the original version of this 90's hit "gangsters paradise", which is on this record: stevie wonder's "pasttime paradise" (which is 1000 times better than this shitty pseudo gangster rap cover version). a couple of months ago i listened to the whole record for the first time really and i was blown away of this great soul music and this great artist... before, stevie wonder was nothing more to me than the guy who had this hit "i just call to say i love you" and i reduced his work on this hit only which i personally don't like very much. BUT HE IS SO MUCH MORE!!!!
Go and get this album, it's one of the best albums ever!

Well and this kind of experience I make every day with "new" old artists and records of my collection. I discovered Frank Zappa, who I only knew from his album "Sheik Yerbouti" with the hit "Bobby Brown" on it, but also other classics like "Broken Hearts are for assholes" or "Baby Snakes".
I never really got into Frank Zappa any further than Sheik Yerbouti. Now I discovered his album "Apostrophe" with the most funniest and most clever song I've ever heard: "Don't Eat That Yellow Snow/ Nanook Rubs It". THIS IS SO GREAT, I always begin to lough loud in the tube when I hear this song on my ipod!

And I have a lot of other examples like that: Steely Dan for example with their great album "Pretzel Logic", which is older than i am... WAR, Blood Sweat And Tears, old Neil Young stuff, a lot of great, old reggae music, Donny Hathaway (the real king of Soul who died toooooo early).
Just recently I really listend to the lyrics of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" album and discovered that this whole album is all about the waste of young talented bands through the major music industry. The whole album is a story of a young band getting into the hold of a major label... and how the band is changed and destroyed by that! Check out the lyrics. Great album!
So my favorite list of just a couple of my most listend albums at the moment is so mixed and that's so great:
Stevie Wonder "Songs In The Key Of Life"
Die Fantastischen Vier "Fornika"
Steely Dan "Pretzel Logic"
Frank Zappa "Apostrophe"
Neil Young "Decade Double CD"
System Of A Down "Hypnotize/ Mesmerize"
Led Zeppelin I - III
Shantel "Bucovina Club 1 and 2" & "Disco Partizani"
Pink Floyd "Dark Side Of The Moon" & "Wish You Were here"
Pearl Jam - all their releases... I LOVE them
Silly Walks Movement "Songs Of Melody"
... and many others!

I also love old stuff of The Rolling Stones (until early 80s), The Beatles (White Album is my favorit), The Doors, Pink Floyd, Led Zep, David Bowie, Velvet Underground, Depeche Mode (old & new), Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash, Janis Joplin.

I am a lot into blues music and love john lee hooker, muddy waters, willie dixon, bo diddley, koko taylor, howlin wolf, robert johnson, taj mahal, johnny guitar watson ("Ain't That A Bitch") etc... but also the white blues man like rory gallagher, stevie ray vaughn, eric clapton (and all his projects like cream, yardbirds, etc), jj cale, steppenwolf, CCR, Jeff Beck, old Status Quo stuff(their psychedelic years), Canned Heat ("going up the country" one of my all time favs), etc.

also a lot of soul & funk music like curtis mayfield, james brown, wilson pickett, etta james, esther philipps, dinah washington, candi staton, lou rawls, marvin gaye, aretha franklin, otis redding, donny hathaway, isley brothers, nina simone, sly & the family stone, ray charles, bobby womack, ike & tina turner, gwen mc Crea, sam & dave, al green, patti & labelle, billy preston...
but also new soul stuff like jill scott, angie stone, joss stone (first & 2nd album), alicia keys (first album), prince, faith evans, beyonc (depends on which song), etc.
