- Cameron Mitchell -
Born in Sydney in 1986, Cameron spent his early years growing up with parents who were both actively performing and composing. When he started playing piano by ear at the age of four he was constantly exposed to both live and recorded music. Upon being given a piano tuition book, he looked through it and promptly tossed it. His ability and technique were already far advanced.
After relocating to Bundaberg in 1994 Cameron commenced formal studies in both Violin and Saxophone. As an extraordinarily gifted musician with perfect pitch he learnt at a phenomenal pace and at the age of nine made the cut with the first violins section of the Queensland State Combined Schools Symphony Orchestra, performing live with them in 1997. After a few years of classical studies Cameron decided to choose a different musical path in life. His orchestral experience would later prove to be a huge asset in arranging and scoring contemporary music.
On receiving his first electric guitar and tuition books the Christmas before commencing high school, Cameron once again tossed the tuition books, did his own thing and was playing competently within a couple of months.
The year 2001 saw Cameron, at the age of fifteen, put his first band together with high school friends. Calling themselves “Human Error†and playing both alternative covers from bands such as Offspring and Blink 182, and penning originals as well, they gained popularity and established a reasonable local following. Cameron describes his time with Human Error as “an experience and a halfâ€, however their originals were extremely alternative and like many high school bands they were destined to fall apart.
Cameron joined 60s-70s retro covers band “Thin Ice†after leaving high school, playing both keyboards and guitar and performing vocals. During his three years working with industry seasoned Thin Ice members, Cameron learned a lot about musicianship, entertaining and performance. He refers to these years as the time when he also learned a lot about having fun. In between Thin Ice gigs Cameron occasionally performed as a guest solo artist with the Ryan Giles Band and began to establish a following with his own original material.
With the demise of Thin Ice on New Years Eve 2005, Cameron decided it was time to move on and take his musical career to its next level. After relocating to Boonah in January, 2006 he carefully selected songs from his extensive repertoire of originals for recording.
