About Me

You can find me these days living in Salt Lake City, Utah. I was born and raised in San Francisco, Calif. and moved here to Utah in 2004. I must admit that I've learned to like living here and have made some great friends, although I miss my good friends back home too. I enjoy the outdoors which makes Utah a great place to live. There are many things I miss about home like Chinese Food, Burritos, the Mom and Pops on Haight Street in S.F. and Telegraph in Berkeley, especially Amoeba Music which is the best record store in the world. I also miss taking MUNI (our Subway/Bus system in San Francisco) to my favorite Pier at Fort Mason where I would go all the time to think about things. Can't forget sitting at Cafe Flore in the Castro District where I would get a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and sit outside and watch everyone pass by. I guess I will always be a San Franciscan! I come from a non-religous, politically liberal family. We are all Democrats in our family, which makes it very interesting for me to be living in a Republican state now. Anyway, I love music. I grew up in a mixed household (my father black and my mother white) which enabled me to have a very rich upbringing. Not rich financially, but rich through the cultures I had the priveledge of being exposed to. I love music, especially soul music (check my list). I am passionate about politics, and especially when it comes to the topic of where our country is headed.

My Interests

Basketball, Camping, Hiking (I love the National Parks), Painting, Writing, Rollerblading (In Training), MUSIC!!!, Cooking (recently I've been baking a whole lot), Coffee Shops, Red Wine, Hennessy Cognac, Tangueray Gin...Love those Tony Sinclair commercials "I'm Tony Sinclair. Ready to Tangueray?"

I'd like to meet:

Liberals! People who look beyond what the newspaper or CNN tells you about whats going on. Those who can see what is really going on today. Not those that complain about whats going on in America, but didn't vote this past election. Someone who likes to sit in a coffee shop, or really gets into some good music. I mean good music. Music takes much thought, talent, creativity, and emotion to create. Why does someone sell millions of records when they really aren't saying anything at all? Someone who likes to watch an independent or a foreign film every once and a while. Or just go to a restaurant and chill. Those who don't spend hundreds on one outfit. $150 for jeans, $200 for shoes, $15 for socks, $80 for a shirt, and $150 for accesories. Dress nice, but don't max out your credit cards or try to get people to believe you are living a particular lifestyle, when you're a paycheck away from being homeless. Lets just try to keep it real with each other. IF YOU ARE AN ARTIST OR A BAND, PLEASE DON'T REQUEST TO ADD ME UNLESS YOU ARE ON MY LIST OF FAVORITE ARTISTS! Music:

MESHELL NDEGEOCELLO Neo-Soul, R&B, Classic Soul, Jazz Be-Bop, Hip-Hop, Electronic

Movies:

The Color Purple and Do the Right Thing have got to be my two favorite movies of all time. I also liked the Showtime currently called 'Sucker Free City' which is a Spike Lee film set in San Francisco. I am loving this movie!

Television:

My favorite show is Girlfriends on UPN and now the CW and Sex and the City. Love those old school shows like Good Times and The Cosby Show. I love watching sports. I love the Travel Channel, Comic View on BET, and reruns of Sanford and Son. Trying not to get into this 'reality' TV - It will hook you in and I don't often like commitments when it comes to television.

Books:

The Oxford Companion to Jazz...all 800 pages of it!!! What I'm reading now: 'From Totems to Hip-Hop' by Ishmael Reed, and 'Why I hate Abercrombie and Fitch' by Dwight McBride. This book is quite and eye opener; DO NOT BUY ABERCROMBIE!

Heroes:

All my family, friends and loved ones who are struggling to make something out of nothing.
