Veronica Torres is a singer-songwriter from Los Angeles. Born and raised in the South Bay, her music is greatly influenced by the surf/rock culture she was brought up around. Her sound captures an intriguing mix of both the beach and urban scenes. Torres has performed at numerous events and festivals, as well as many of Southern California's top venues.
Torres came on to the scene in 2005, as a beachy blonde singer-songwriter, playing her acoustic guitar; remnants of a young Sheryl Crow. Her acoustic performances displaying unique vocals and rhythmic guitar playing, suggesting the presence of far more than "a girl with a guitar." This was evident on 7/28/05 when Veronica sold out the world famous ROXY Theatre on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood using nothing more than her acoustic guitar on stage.
Soon thereafter Torres recorded a self produced demo entitled "Rough Draft" which displayed the stripped down acoustic vibe of all of her songs. This demo was never released but was instead burned on hundreds of CDs and passed around across Los Angeles and Torres' own college Loyola Marymount University. Soon enough "Rough Draft" attracted the attention of many young music lovers, as well as the music industry. This opened many doors and led to recording her debut EP, "11:11" with producer Chris McClure (Candor Entertainment). "11:11" was released in the summer of 2006. Music from the debut is featured in numerous skate and surf videos (FIXED) as well as several indie films (HOLLYWAX).
Since the release of "11:11," Torres has spent the past 2 years developing her sound as well as gaining valuable experience and knowledge in the music industry. Torres has performed at hundreds of live venues, sharing the stage with some of LA's top musicians. Torres has been busy working with a band on her newly developed sound and finishing her sophomore ep, entitled "The Saved EP," which is due for release winter 2008. "This second ep gives a clearer reflection of who I have become as a singer-songwriter. It shows development and growth in my writing and I am excited to share it." You will be able to purchase "The Saved EP" through itunes and the online store at www.veronicatorres.com.
Torres currently has been working with numerous talented musicians, on a new project. She is the lead vocalist for Los Angeles based indie rock band, Gorgeous Got a Gun. Most of her focus will be on this new project for the coming months, but Torres will still release "The Saved EP" and play select acoustic shows in support of the release.
