Word to all my G wizards!!!! Well listen good children, this is the story of how musical phenomenon named "The Unknown" came to be. It all started back in year 8 (or was it 9) when Chaz (guitar) got his first axe (a squire strat I believe) for crimbo. Jack (thats me) then decided I wouldnt mind being in a band and reached for the nearest bass, which at the time, happened to be a "Legend" bass. (Dont be fooled by the title, it was a piece of shit!) Amps shortly followed, and setting up an actual band started to be talked about.
The next part is a little bit hazy. If I remember it, our first practice involved many people including Jon Day who, splintered away from our little group to form, our main (slightly less talented, always thought they were at Wembley, long haired, mongoloid, geeky and strangely homo erotic) rivals, Meadowcroft. Despite this early defection, an ensemble was rather shitly, formed consisting of: -
Owen "Vocal Powerhouse" Setter
Chaz "Firehead" Clements
Jack "Jaco" Hullah
Alex "your girlfriends' the only one that likes you and shes fucking ugly" May
Its important to explain here that Alex May was a pretty tight drummer but a total cock, so after many a hilarious spectacle round his house, including Owen losing his trainer on his fuck off hedge, we kicked him out.
Then Rob "Im Amazing Live" Shrimpton blessed the band with his pounding solidity on kit, and music would never be the same again! I must mention matt "utility" buss at this point who also joined as the bands rhythm guitarist and helped us out greatly in the year 12 (I think)
Now one point I have to stress is that, the bands name, "The Unknown" was probably the most challenging trial the band had to deal with. I can't remember what our first name was, but at one stage we were "Leroy Merlin and the Hyperquacks" then "Five Men And A Pint" and due to Owens divine intervention "Duck Cheese" (DUCK CHEESE?!!!!)For fucks sake! All of these were suitors until we settled on "The Unknown" (or is it just "Unknown"?!)
And so the four legends were born, the biggest rockers of Coopers School. Owen's vocal power was unmatched, Chaz rinsed the deuce of Bjorn (lol what a name) and Jon easily. Rob who was a solid as a rock, and smashed the ever loving shit out of his kit every time he played it and me, who was all right. And so to what I think was our swansong. No it wasnt being on XFM, when Owens mum beefed Christian O Connell, it was our gig at Elmstead Woods sports club! With Tim " I like butch hairy men" Carey on keys, it was a night to remember as we rocked tracks by the killers, Franz Ferdinand and even managed to sneak our own material in there. Needless to say we rinsed Meadowcroft who were shit (props to Tim however) and were booed of the stage (I made that bit up.... well I booed them... BOOOOOOOOOO!)
And so to the present day, where we've done fuck all since we left school. Heres the run down of what my homies be up to now: -
Shrimpster: At Uni, inspirational leader of the 5th football team at BCUC Uni
Big Os: At drama college, clubbing a lot, wearing some fruity gear
Ginge: Not done much, does some acting for the BBC occasionally
Jack: At Uni in Surrey drinking and playing a bit of rugby when bothered and potentially building up his 'frame'!
There we have it, that is us we are now releasing our songs on myspace to download for a very small amount of money. This is the next step for us and over the next year we will start recording some new tracks. Many thanks to all of you that have visited our site, we are sorry for not replying to everyone but we have been busys. . You are all much appreciated so keep coming back and spread the word....TU
Live long and prosper and listen to us!! Word!!!
