“Ready and willing†is how best to describe this R&B singer who’s eager to rise to the industry standard! However not just meet those standards but go so far as to set new ones.Hailing from Chicago’s southeast side, Génon grew up with a background formed in music. Génon’s mother thought that if her son did not have a positive outlet to keep his attention he would then fall prey to the streets. His mother saw music as a way to keep him from the troubles that caught her first son. So what once started as just something to keep him busy has turned in to a life long passion. “I love music, singing, performing and expressing myself through my voice! I couldn’t see myself doing anything else, it is a way of life for me!â€Although he’s been singing since five years old and performing since ten, Génon decided to go professional when he graduated from high school. As he entered college, he chose classical performance as his major. However he soon found out that he had a greater passion to sing R&B! Even so with that decision came opposition, some from his family (who wanted him to continue on with classical) and some with the trials of finding out just how to pursue his new found interest in a genre that was already very competitive to start.But reflecting back on his childhood, Génon knew and understood that nothing worth having would ever come easy! So preparing himself for a long hall, he knew he needed to set himself apart from so many others that where already out there.Seeing the need’s of today’s music, Génon’s motive is to get music back to being apart of the senses. Basically showing the world that it’s ok to bop your head to a good beat but also have content that leaves something to the imagination! “I want to tease my listener’s with material that will keep them wanting more and coming back to get it!â€Before anything Génon is a fan! A big fan of hip hop, soul music, jazz, neo-soul, funk and the great Rhythm and Blues! With that in mind, Génon wants to pull the young’n in but keep the old school up to date as well. “Right when you put your finger on me, and you think you got my number, is when I show you a little more you didn’t think I had!†On his grind, Génon is in the lab coming up with music he can’t wait for his followers to hear! Open to working with other local Chi-town artist, who are also into making real music- Génon also would like to work with his Chi-town big brothers in the game such as Common, Carl Thomas, Twister and Kanye West to name a few. “I’ve learned so much from those guys, it would be an honor to work with them!†Génon’s EP (Electronic demo) is currently under way, and hopes to be complete by Fall of 2007!
