In January 2004 Bert Jacobs and Mathias Coomans started with a band called 'Red Cabbage'. Initially it wasn't anything serious, but this changed when Jelle Wauters joined the band. The weekly bungling was rapidly replaced by full rehearsals. But there still was something missing, namely a bassist. Wouter Put solved this problem.
The band was formed, but the rehearsals where still stiff (especially in the beginning). After a few months intensive practising the band succeeded in playing a certain number of songs.
Just before their first gig at the end of august 2004 the guys decided to change the name of the band to Garlic because there already was a band from the same region with a similar name.
At the end of 2004 ‘Tough Guy’ was born, their first song. This was the beginning of Garlic as a full band. In 2005 more songs were added to the list and the band recorded them on the demo ‘What The Hell’.
Nowadays Garlic is adding a wide range of digital effects to its music, by using keyboards and vocal FX. This opens a new world for them to explore, and they are very exited to reveal their new material to the public in 2007-2008. With songs like 'Concrete Feathers', 'Red hot Conversations' and 'For the Smile of the Girl' in stock, they are guaranteed for a set of musical magic.
