In the summer of 2004, two friends were drinking heavily at a backyard barbecue on Long Island. As the night progressed, and the same old lame music kept playing on the stereo, these two friends soon had a musical epiphany…
Nothing (aside from beer) brought more joy to these two friends than hardcore and punk. However, few, if any, bands had ever sufficiently expressed through song what truly pumped through their hearts- Beer. Although they had nothing but an acoustic guitar and a growing pile of beer cans with them, Greg (BREW MASTER-G) and Dan (PSYCHO D) began to sew the seeds of one of the most hardcore drunk-rock bands ever: PSYCHO ENHANCER. They began writing and soon came up with the now classic song “Boozin’ it up.â€
Soon after that fatefully drunken night, Greg and Dan enlisted their buddy Evil Doug, a.k.a. Snackington, to fill out the rhythm section. Snackington, like Greg, had been in a few New York bands, but none nearly as fucked up and fun as this one. Their wacko friend Regular Doug soon joined in on bass, even though he had never played bass before in his life. He spent most of his time as a full blown alcoholic maniac, and was allowed to join solely due to his drinking credentials.
The songwriting formula was simple - fast hardcore/punk riffs mixed with brutally heavy breakdowns - a.k.a. 'Brewdowns' (chugging beers combined with chugging guitar riffs). Lyrically, the songs deal with important world issues like: not spilling your beer (“Thou Shalt Not Spillâ€), making sure the kegs are finished at a keg party (“Keg Killaâ€) & not fucking around at wing night (“Wing Nightâ€).
The original Psycho Enhancer lineup remains intact in 2009. The band members can be found throughout NYC and Long Island binging heavily. They’ve played shows in clubs, basements, bars and backyards throughout the Northeast United States. Promotional campaigns have brought their music across the entire country and throughout Europe. Their new LP “Party like a Psycho†was released on their DIY label Party Van Records on August 22, 2009. And in 2010, PE will be running amok across the country and beyond in support of it. The goal is still the same: pound brews, play shows, and party with as many like-minded degenerate assholes as possible.
