I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Osiyo! I am originally from Carthage, TN., but have lived in various places all across the U.S.. I have been fortunate to come in contact with various types and cultures of people from all around the world. I myself am of Cherokee/African American descent. From the time I was a child I was taught to honor and respect both cultures. I pray my ancestors are proud of me for the work I have done, and continue to do in both communities.I currently sing on a Southern powwow drum named Tanasi Thunder, based in Nashville/Franklin TN. I donate a lot of my time and resources to the Native community throughout TN., and love to help educate non-Native people about Native American (primarily Cherokee) culture and history. I also like to bring about an awareness and understanding of people like myself who are of dual, or mixed descent. Being a History major with a minor in Native American Studies has allowed me the opportunity to research and write much about the connection and dynamics between Native Americans and African Americans. It is a subject that sadly has been omitted from the story of America.Although the study of History is a big part of my life, music has also played a key role. Besides playing and singing with Tanasi Thunder, I play the sax and Native flute. I have performed in different bands throughout my life, and did a reggae radio show for 8 yrs. I've also worked as a reggae dj at various clubs in Nashville and Rochester NY.. Those were some wild times! Now I have settled down some and am blessed to be married and in love to a beautiful Oklahoma girl (Kristi). She has given me 3 lovely daughters (Jahniah, Ah-Yokah, and Kaya). Those 4 girls are the loves of my life! So enough about me for now. Feel free to contact me anytime to talk about anything and everything! Tohi! (Peace)
