I am here for Friends

About Me

I'm a writer, which means I waste lots of time on the internet. I'm a flexitarian, which means I won't eat barnyard animals, but damn, fish is good. I'm crafty, which means I have a vast collection of needles, yarn and half-finished sweaters. I'm married, but I can't bring myself to use the words "husband" and "wife"...I prefer "partner" if I'm feeling casual, or "consort" if I'm feeling pretentious. I'm an introvert, which means I like quiet nights in with my boy, my cats and my friends, cooking good food and watching silly dvds, but I'm social enough that I love to dress up, drink and dance.

My Interests

Reading, writing, crafty projects, knitting, spending way too much time on the internet, watching DVD commentaries, shopping for buried treasure, throwing small objects for my cats to chase, drinking, dancing, cooking, faeries, herbal medicine, skincare (hey, it's my job), daydreaming.

I'd like to meet:

I always appreciate meeting new people with intellect, style and a twisted sense of humor. However, I would like to stick with friends, and friends of friends. This includes bands! If you're not remotely connected to me through my friends list, please don't try to add me or send me messages. Otherwise feel free.

Music:

david bowie, bjork, the brazilian girls, the cure, concrete blonde, the dresden dolls, the decemberists, siouxsie-sioux, suede, morrissey, tori amos, rasputina, blur, pulp, peter murphy, radiohead, portishead, blondie, golden palominos, placebo,...you get the point. Your basic gothic/new wave/britpop fare.

Movies:

heathers, pretty in pink, royal tenenbaums, rushmore, harold and maud, the princess bride, say anything/gross pointe blank/high fidelity, fight club, pirates of the caribbean, shaun of the dead, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, anything by tim burton (except planet of the apes), willy wonka, wet hot american summer

Television:

my so-called life, twin peaks, buffy, firefly, gilmore girls, freaks and geeks, the office, lost, spaced, wonderfalls. Shows that were awesome and cancelled after one season (usually by FOX) hold a special place in my heart...

Books:

..

Heroes:

anyone with dark humor and a pure heart

I want a high joy-to-stuff ratio

I'm going through a hardcore "get rid of the clutter" phase. It's a good phase, and needed. I like stuff and I have lots of it and I will always have a lot of it, but right now I'm trying to clear out...

you and me, all we want to be is lazy...

Today was my day off. Really didn't do much of anything. Sometimes that's needed, sometimes it's just wasted time. Remains to be seen which it was. The problem with being lazy is that it encourages mo...

the latest pop-philosophy

Working at a spa can get pretty new-agey at times. Conversations about the benefits of colonics are pretty common. Everyone was pretty psyched when "What the Bleep Do We Know" came out. Now the latest...
