About Me

*October 2008: The band were very saddened to learn that Des McNamara passed away on 16th October 2008 after a short sudden illness, aged 47. Des was in from the start of UXB, a loyal roadie, lighting technician and press liaison officer. And above all a true friend of the band. He loved this band and we loved him. He will be greatly missed by us all. Our thoughts go out to his wife Sue and son Aidan, his brother and his parents. There is a photo gallery in memory of Des on the official UXB website http://www.geocities.com/uxbnet ------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------------------UXB are a punk/mod band formed in Cannock, England in 1978. They released one classic single in 1980, 'Crazy Today' (with 'Mr Fixit' on the b-side) which has since become very sought after by punk record collectors worldwide. They also recorded a whole album's worth of material which remains in the archives. The band gigged extensively in the West Midlands in 1980-81, and had their single played on all of the local radio stations as well as BBC Radio 1. A follow up single comprising '2 Steps', 'In the Q' and '48 Hours' was unfortunately never released. They split up in 1982 but reformed in 2001 due to the offer of gigs and record releases. 'Crazy Today' was included on the excellent Detour Records compilation CD, 'Bored Teenagers Volume 2', bringing the band's sound to a wider audience. UXB have since had limited edition singles released in Japan and Germany. For the full UXB story, refer to the official website, http://www.geocities.com/uxbnetRecent gigs:
