About Me

The details of my life are quite inconsequential.....Very well, where do I begin
Music has been a part of my life since I can remember. My mom, being a classical pianist, gave me the inspiration and knowledge very early on. I think I was probably 5 or 6 when she sat me on the bench and started to show me how to play the piano. She was, and still is, my biggest musical influence.
At around 8, I started taking accordian lessons...yes, accordian lessons. I got quite good actually, winning state championships in my age category 3 years in a row. My first taste of professional music came when my Dad used to take me to an old German bar called "George's" in Northside. I played alot of polkas and made alot of tips:) I even appeared on the old "Uncle Al Show" here in Cinci and played "Flight Of The Bumblebee"...I burned Al up...but I digress
Being that accordian wasn't a particuarly cool instrument to play, I decided to go out for middle school band. I wanted to play the drums, but they didn't have a spot for me. So, I opted for the next logical choice...upright string bass.
After about a year of that, I got pretty tired of draggin' that big bastard around the halls. So, I took the cash I earned from running a paper route and bought a $40 Kay electric bass and little Fender Bassman amp...that's when things began to change for me musically
To that point, I thought music was Beethoven, Mozart and the like...until my older brother gave me some of his records....Hendrix, Sabbath, Joplin, CCR....wow....this was completely different...
Well, to make a long story short, I joined my first band, Pegasus, a short time later. Since then, it's been a wild ride and I have been fortunate to meet and collaborate with a whole bunch of musicians, many who have become life-long friends. I bought my first electric guitar when I was 19, a 1979 Dean Explorer. It's my baby...I still own it to this day...
Over the years, I've played professionally, semi-professionally, given lessons, have done studio work and gigged out all around town and beyond. The music I want to share here on MySpace is gonna be a mix of things I have done over the years with various other musicians...some you may have heard...some I'm sure you haven't.
It's a wide variety of stuff ranging from early 4-track recordings, studio and live music, originals and covers of all styles and genres. I hope you enjoy it...
Rock on
Rob
