In hip hop the outline of this melody is created by the producer. In the year two thousand and six, the hip hop world will begin to feel the vibrations of a new melody. This melody, accompanied by the best drums in hip hop, will be orchestrated by J. Cardim.J. Cardim was born in 1982, in New York City. J was surrounded by music from a young age. His father Alfredo Cardim is a Jazz musician and professor at Berkley School of Music in Boston. It is no surprise that J has his familys support in his own musical aspirations. J was always into creating music and played several instruments including the piano and the drums. A gifted child, J crafted his first rap song, beat and rhymes included, at age 10. After spending parts of his childhood in Boston, San Diego and Brazil, J completed High School back in Massachusetts in the city of Cambridge.R.A.P. records began when Chief C and J. Cardim first met. Together they crafted several albums and were soon joined by GEyes and Young Don. Early R.A.P. work has a hard-hitting sound which is geared towards the street demographic. Currently R.A.P. crafts music which appeals to many different tastes, while still satisfying its core fan base.In the past year, J moved to New York City in hopes of establishing himself as a force in the music industry. Armed with a powerful manager in Zack Einhorn, J has begun to make his mark. Outside of his work with R.A.P. artists, J has appeared on several projects in the last year. These appearances include two production credits on Jean Graes This Week and a contribution to the musical score of MGMs The Beauty Shop. In addition, J has worked with other notable artists including Prospect (Fat Joes Terror Squad), Dylan (MTVs Da Band), Termanology, and Ed Rock. Js personal favorite work appears on Saigons Abandoned Nation Mixtape, hosted by Just Blaze and DJ Whoo Kid. After crafting the beat for Saigons Breathe Thru the Years J was able to watch Saigon record the song at Baseline Studios, the place Jay-Zs music calls home. With such an eclectic sound, J could be from anywhere. Artists from coast to coast will soon break their budget for a J. Cardim track. To put it plainly, in the words of J. Cardim himself, Be on the look out for J. Cardim, the super producer from Boston. Hell soon be in a town near you, because every town is on the way when you are traveling the road to world domination.FREQUENCY 7 BIOGRAPHY Not content to wallow in mainstream mediocrity, Frequency 7 rises above the unexceptional, hell-bent on creating a new sound. Since 2005, Frequency 7 has captivated audiences from coast to coast by creating explosive music reeling of energy, passion and focused creativity. They seamlessly blend their take on hip-hop, rock, funk and reggae, spinning it into a style unmistakably theirs with universal appeal. The ensuing sound is much too dimensional and complex to be shelved alongside the monotony associated with most of today’s music. Seven intensely dedicated musicians/performers compose the heart and soul of Frequency 7. Collectively, these individuals eradicate present-day boilerplate expectations of music with hard-hitting lyrics, addictive melodies and genuine talent. Frontman Michael “Skinny†Cavallo is a master of seduction with both his clever lyrics and larger-than-life stage presence. MC Amadeus creates beautifully complicated layers that complement Skinny’s vocals with deliverance so powerful, yet resonating with raw emotion. When you hear this immensely talented band wax their version of poetic on the sometimes gritty existence of life, you believe that they have been there; the stories embedded in the lyrics come from an authentic place. Throughout the past few years, Frequency 7 has rocked devoted audiences in the Boston area as well as played to sold-out crowds across the country. Two of their more significant performances to-date includes playing at New York City’s legendary lounge CBGB, which has fathered genre-defining acts such as The Ramones and Blondie, as well as Cane’s in beachfront San Diego. The show in San Diego was especially monumental because Frequency 7 played to a sold-out show primarily there to see them, as they opened for hip-hop greats De La Soul and KRS- ONE. Frequency 7 has successfully spawned a sound that will long outlast the typical; expect to see them performing to crowds of thousands in years to come. . Hailing from a middle-class upbringing, Michael has a great sense of pride for his roots. Michaels love of music was initiated by his father, Peter, a musician himself who created an omnipresent musical setting for what would eventually become Michaels life and love. This very setting played a crucial backdrop in the development of Michaels earliest musical influences. Mostly classical rock, which Michael still appreciates to this very day, Peter played the records and tapes of rock legends at both home and in the car. With a keen appreciation of music undeniably planted in his head, Michael began to develop his own fiercely individual musical taste. Groups such as Run DMC and the Beastie Boys drove the seamless, almost unconscious transformation from Michael Cavallo to Skinny; the aspiring artist, songwriter and performer.Musics undeniable hold had tightened its intense grip on Skinny during the advent of his adolescent years. By the age of twelve, Skinny had started rapping with his longtime friend and future counterpart, Amadeus. Within the time spanning from then to now, Skinnys life has encompassed interactions with people from all different walks of life. From the streets and the suburbs of the city he loves, to the eccentric nuances of both coasts, Skinnys life took him in many directions. He attended college in Connecticut, mourned the untimely deaths of several beloved friends, and drove to virtually every state on the East Coast promoting his music. Ultimately, it was these scars, tribulations, and quiet triumphs that began to form the fragments of the puzzle which is now his life. Pieced together, the intricate components of this puzzle, both minute and larger than life itself, spell out MUSIC.With music serving as both his constant companion and translator, Skinny insists that is only through this medium that he can effectively communicate his thoughts. In the likely event that a song or rhythm triggers its inescapable manifestation, what his mind keeps close his always present digital recorder keeps even closer. He loves to write at night when everything is still, except for the yet to be deciphered words in his head. For Skinny, the meaning of the words and thoughts hidden within the chaos of todays events or the deep confines of yesterdays past are finally brought to the surface in the sanctuary of the night.Six years ago, Skinny began recording his music and performing live. He and one of his high-school best friends, Reskue, formed a group and dubbed themselves The Travelin Booz Bagz. The group consists of five MCs, including Skinny, Reskue, MC Drow, Tiny and Manny Deuces.Skinny takes immense pride in his aptitude for creating music that transcends and embraces different musical genres. He believes it is this ability which creates the deep chasms between him and other artists. From rap to acoustic, punk to funk and reggae to rock, Skinny has written music encompassing virtually every genre and style but still believes his true potential as an artist is yet to be unleashed.Undeniably, Skinny has begun to realize his culmination as a complete artist in every sense of the word. His brother, Matt, gave Skinny his best piece of advice a couple of years back: Simply let the music write the song for you. Since taking those immeasurably profound words to heart, Skinny believes that his craft as a songwriter has improved tremendously as compared to his earlier works.Within a time period spanning less than a year, Skinny has embarked on a journey which includes several new ventures. He joined his first live band, Frequency 7, a year and a half ago which opened the floodgates for his diverse writing style. The band, comprised of seven artists includes Skinny (Vocals/MC), Amadeus (MC), Wize (MC), Billy Two Hats (Guitar), Milton Jones (Bass), Vanny (Sax) and Mikey "fast" Lane(Drums). The band members varying backgrounds and ensuing different musical tastes forge the foundation for Frequency 7s unique and original sound. For Skinny, the collaboration has been a perfect fit; the bands synergy, unparalleled. Frequency 7s debut album is slated for a March/April 2005 release. An ever-evolving collaboration for fifteen years now, Skinny and Amadeus are in the midst of a project in conjunction with Flat Line Studios. The duo is calling themselves Born Losers, with an LP to be released under Leedz Edutainment(www.leedzedutainment.com) in March 2006.Skinny is also working with his longtime friend and crew member MC Drow (who currently resides in San Diego, CA) on a yet to be named acoustic/hip-hop endeavor.PS: Frequency 7 is currently looking for a DJ and or key board player to round out our group so if you or anyone you know might be interested, send me an e-mail. AMADEUS THE STAMPEDEAmadeus the Stampede, aka Head Traumadeus, is known for giving fans and listeners what is known as animal rap or, what he calls mindfuck music. He uses intense, hardcore lyrics over strange melodies and concrete beats to convey a surprisingly positive message of peace and equality. Raised in the South End of Boston, within the brick confines of his Tent City housing development where he started to show his remarkable skills as an artist, the Stampede has been exposed to many different aspects of life. Freestyling, writing, and recording music throughout the city and surrounding suburban communities circa 1992, the prodigious Amz enjoyed his hobby of rhyme slinging. Yet, 1994 marks the year that a then 16-year-old Amadeus would fall back from rap, I lost too much that year, too many loved ones had passed and life was catching up to me. In 2001 the young man we all know as Amadeus the Stampede, born J.L. Mendes, started writing again. He wasnt writing rap verses this time, he was writing poetry. While undergoing treatment for schizophrenia, which he was diagnosed with early that year, he took a warm, sunny week in April 01 to compile a series of poems entitled Silent Screams and Dry Tears. I was on house arrest and the state forced me to go into treatment, so I started to reflect on my life and my environment, prisons, schools, hospitals, and graveyards. I was stuck. I changed a lot when I started showing symptoms of schizophrenia, my old dogs stopped fucking with me like, I dont even know you anymore, I was hurting. The poems in Silent Screams and Dry Tears will eventually become the words on his debut album of the same title that was supposed to be released in 2004 but was shelved due to the closing of Rapture Entertainment, the indie rap label that signed the Stampede in 02. The album itself is strong musically but could be too personal and too lyrically intense for the average consumer or commercial listener. Commercial or not, that hasnt stopped local college radio stations such as 88.9 WERS and 91.5 from playing tracks such as Take a Look and Anti for the past two years. From sharing the stage with such artists as Jurassic 5 and Wu Tang Clan, to recording his Mindfuck Mixtape in a 15-hour studio session, Amz remains humble with a well-earned confidence that spills over into his latest work, The Beast Scriptures, coming soon in 06. Amadeus the Stampede is an intriguing, mysterious individual with marvelous talent. His flow is captivating and his words form passionate lines that make up his magical verses. Amz has managed to become one of the most respected hip-hop artists in New England, and trust me it wont stop there. With one LP and an official mix tape under his belt, the 27-year-old beast of a rapper hasnt even begun to rock. As 1/6 of the Greater Good, Amz is ready to put his city on the hip-hop map. In addition to the double gz, Head Traumadeus has played more than 100 shows with his rock/reggae/hip hop band Frequency 7 over the past 10 months. Even though he has offers on the table, the humanoid typhoon says that hes not even closed to where he plans to be. Ill end up signing with somebody. Whoever gives me the most freedom and support will be who I go with. I know I have a lot to learn, so Im just playing my position. He may have a lot to learn, but he also has a lot to offer his culture. When listening to Amadeus music, you have to apply all youve learned to break down his metaphors and decipher the intricate verses that set him apart from his so-called competition. Ahead of his time and behind enemy lines stands the Stampede, a man to respect and an artist to cherish.Sticking to your beliefs is never any easy thing, especially if the odds are against you. Hip Hop music has suffered a horrible decline in quality with over saturation and lack of support. Nowadays only a small number of people are truly educated in the world of rap music. Edu Leedz has dedicated his life to promote real Hip Hop thru unity to the Boston community. Ned Wellbery aka Edu Leedz was born in Lynn, MA and raised in transit between northern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. As a kid, he fell victim of a broken home when his dad disappeared when he was only 11, leaving him and his mother to defend for themselves in subsidized housing. Leedz struggled with oppression and low income living. This is where he found HIP HOP. "I can remember the day so vividly. My neighbor brought me down a copy of Ice Cube's "The Predator". I was into Heavy Metal at the time and was blown away by Ice Cubes rawness. I was instantly hooked." Leedz soon began studying the culture compulsively. Public Enemy, NWA, House of Pain, Cypress Hill, and Ice-T became role models instead of his parents. As Leedz got older he became more in need for material gains. "I was broke all the time and it got old." He soon became involved with the drug game and a full-time dealer. With the extra money now being made, Leedz invested in Turntables. He then became the hardest working DJ in the Rockingham County releasing over 25 mix tapes in two and a half years. His obsession with vinyl and strong work ethic paid off. Leedz was then able to secure steady work DJing parties and clubs in NH. But in a scene that was too commercially driven and five years of drug dealing eating away at his soul, it was time for a new plan. In 2002, Leedz enrolled at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. He majored in Music Business, already having an Associates degree in Business Management. Within the first six months of being at NU he landed an internship with the number one Hip Hop promotions company in Boston, Metro Concepts. "They taught me more in three months then I learned in 3 years of being at Northeastern. Tim Lindberg, co-founder, acted as my mentor and spoon fed me the industry." Leedz struggled to find his niche though. Record labels were failing and radio stations were not hiring. Hip Hop was getting worse and worse by the day. By 2003, the whole entire Boston Hip Hop scene was completely dead. This is where he found his role. There were no Hip Hop shows in Boston at this time. No one wanted to do them because they were failing financially and no one was supporting. Leedz then decided he would become a Hip Hop promoter and founded "Leedz Edutainment". With everyone urging him to NOT do it, he soon became the biggest underground hip hop promoter in Boston and responsible for bringing thru major acts such as Lupe Fiasco, Joe Budden, Immortal Technique, EL-P, Necro, Boot Camp Clik, AZ, Ras Kass, Royce Da 5'9, JR Writer, Devin the Dude, Kool Keith, Cage, Ill Bill, Masta Killa, Inspectah Deck, Masta Ace, Brand Nubian, Brother Ali, Murs, Zion I, Wise Intelligent, CunninLyguists, Copywrite, Grouch and many more. By 2006 he was voted number one hip hop promoter in Boston. "Sometimes I wish I listened more cause shows can be such a mess, but there is an art to it and I truly love what I do." In doing these big shows he became truly engulfed in Boston's local Hip Hop scene. For every big headliner there is 3-4 opening slots. Leedz was able to open these spots up to the local scene when no one else was offering an opportunity. He has been responsible for gaining increased exposure for Bostons best artists. Still being a trained DJ, he started an all-boston compilation series, Mass Movementz, mixed and produced entirely by himself. Vol 1 has has sold over 10,000 units in Boston alone. Vol2 is soon to be released feat nationally known arists on some major boston collaborations. He also has produced entire mix tapes for some of Bostons best: Slaine Vol 1 and 2., Jake the Snake, Bomshot, Amadeus, Prone 2, Al Jabra, and many more projects soon to be released. Slaine "White man is the Devil Vol 1" went on to win Best Mixtape of the Year at the 2006 MIC Awards. Nowadays his reality is geared more towards taking Boston to the national level. "Im not stoppin till the world hears whats going on over here in New England. Boston is like a volcano ready to explode onto the Earth". In a city that needs more support for its own, Edu Leedz has become a staple in the Boston Hip Hop scene. "This music made me who i am, and now the world will see what I become".About Slaine "La Coka Nostra" Nowadays being a rapper is like being a teardrop in the ocean. There are so many MCs making albums filled with rehashed ideas, stolen flows and stale metaphors that it is becoming more difficult to decipher who is who. This is dangerous ground for a hip hop world that made its mark by providing America's youth with a plethora of new voices and a brutal energy that had long been squeezed from other music. It is clear that it is time for the next generation of MCs to pump some new blood into the game...... It is clear that Slaine is part of the next generation.Slaine was born into an Irish American family in the working class Dorchester section of Boston and spent his youth as somewhat of a gypsy bouncing from place to place around Boston. His intensity and penchant for always being the new kid around the block made him quick to make friends and enemies, while at the same time remaining a loner by nature. Always being somewhat of an outsider, hip-hop seemed like a natural fit for him, even if it didn't always for others. "I always was an outsider and a walking contradiction wherever I went anyways, so when I got a sour response from people at times, it kind of just fed my fire."Indeed it may be the contradictions that make Slaine so intense to listen to. His flow in a matter of seconds can switch from sentimental, to violent and defiant. His lyrics flawlessly paint portraits of the Beantown streets with a wordplay that can make you laugh even if the subject matter is depraved. He seems to be almost joyous in his description of an oxycontin robbery, and haywire with subjects that run in between the lines of race, class, religion, love, lust and drugs. "I have learned to use hip hop as an outlet that allowed me to escape all of the elements that seemed to invade my life, by wrapping myself in them even more. I don't care about anybody else and their perceptions of what I am or what I say because that would be a betrayal of what I am at the core, which is a writer. This is my escape."And that is exactly what he did when he was 18. He escaped from his life in Boston and his family situation, which had both spiraled out of control, and moved to New York City. For the better part of five years, Slaine developed and rhymed with a crew called Introduction to Insanity and End of the Weak, which is now a staple on the New York underground. He was managed by MC Shan, opened up for Run DMC in their last ever NYC show, and cliqued up with the infamous hardcore crew DMS. "The hardcore scene is brimming with the kind of energy that hip hop used to have, and though my style isn't on any rap metal shit, I do try to bring that emotion and energy from hardcore on stage with me. And if you are going to watch and learn from cats, Freddy Cricien (Madball, and Hazen St,) and Danny Diablo (Skarhead) are definitely not a bad place to start."Armed with a new family and a new arsenal of skills to bring to his music, Slaine felt it was time to go back home to Boston and come up where he was from. When he got home though things again spiraled out of control quickly. His girlfriend of 10 years kicked him out of the house, many of the friends he'd grown up with were either dead, in jail, or left with nasty drug habits, and he lost the mailroom job that was allowing him to make ends meet due to his late nights in the studio. "I was fucked. I couldn't pay my rent. I was living in an apartment with a TV, and futon for a bed with not much else. I was scamming to get money to eat everyday. It was horrible. But it was just more of the shit that I had gone through. I saw so many others fall into the same traps and I knew that if I didn't get my shit back on track I was going to be in jail or dead, or a junkie myself." Thanks to some relatives in his hometown, the hardnosed neighborhood of Southie, he made it through and picked up a job roofing and bricklaying, and so went his music one brick at a time.Slaine in the past two years has gone on to become the up and coming rapper in Boston. He is a member of Boston's 2006 M.I.C. Award winning "Group of the Year" Special Teamz which also feature Boston legends Edo G, and Jaysaun. There single "Main Event" was produced by DJ Premier and recieved heavy critical acclaim and burn internationally. He has become a staple on 88.9 and garnered spins on Hot 97.7 and Jamn 94.5 in Boston from a cd with no distribution. He was featured on a single by The Kreators called Hardcore which peaked at number 3 on the College Radio Charts Top 30, and recently dropped his own single "Rich Man Poor Man," which peaked at number 2 on the CMJ and Rap Attack Lives charts . His 23 song mixtape "The White Man is the Devil Volume 1" has sold 6,000 copies with no distribution, and earned him a spot on the cover of the Boston Globe's calendar section this past August labeling "one of the area's most talented hip hop artists. Slaine exudes mass appeal...with tenaciously catchy hooks, and a masterful use of layering." His notorious grind and hustle, along with his skills ended up netting him four M.I.C awards at the Boston Hip Hop extravaganza, which was more than any other artist, and included "Best Lyricist" among them.He was featured in Mass Appeal Magazine's Oh My God Column, and in Japans Warped magazine, Elemental Magazine, The Village Voice, The Boston Herald, The Boston Globe, The Boston Phoenix, the Weekly Dig, and numerous hip hop websites around the world. He has performed his controversial set from Boston to New York, from London to Amsterdam, and was labeled by the Boston Phoenix as "part Necro, part Nas with the stage intensity of DMX." He has collaborated with artists as diverse as Hatebreed frontman, and host of MTVs Headbangers ball, Jamey Jasta, Royce the 5'9", DJ Premier, Psycho Realm, B Real of Cypress Hill, Krumbsnatcha, Danny Diablo, Rob Aston of the Transplants , and of course his legendary La Coka Nostra bandmates DJ Lethal, Danny Boy O'Connor, and Everlast of House of Pain, Street Villain and Uncle Howie founder Ill Bill, and Big Left. Aside from the tremendous buzz he has created for himself in the music industry, Ben Affleck recently signed him to star as Bubba Rogowski in his directorial debut and adaptation of best selling author Dennis Lehane's book "Gone Baby Gone," which also stars Morgan Freeman, Ed Harris, Casey Affleck, and Michelle Mognahan. What the course of any young rapper's career will be is always unknown, however, it is apparent when someone like Slaine comes around, the world needs to hear him.
