Hanging out with my family & friends (wait ... do I have friends?) This section is still being worked on because I don't really know what I like to do! According to my sister, I need to get out more ...
... Getting out more ... finding out what I like ...
Hanging out with my niece! She is 3, and a breath of fresh air in my "hectic" "stressed-out" life. She helps me see that all I need sometimes is to sit a minute and watch my shadow, or feed ducks, or try to talk underwater in the swimming pool!
I like all kinds of music. Music can take you back to old times and old friends, it can motivate and energize you, or it can calm and relax you. Some of the artists on my ipod's "most played" song list ...
Shakira (older stuff in Spanish), Gigi D'Agostino, Kathy Mattea, Sarah McLachlan, David Gray, Neil Diamond, Mel Carter, Nat King Cole, Patsy Cline, Van Morrison, OMC, M2M, Matchbox Twenty, Counting Crows, R.E.M., Semisonic, The Flys, Placebo, Blue October, Hoobastank, Fall Out Boy, Black Eyed Peas, Pharcyde, Mos Def, NaS, Xzibit
Movies! In the theater or at home, I LOVE movies. I will give any movie my "willing suspension of disbelief" for two hours of entertainment. I just can't really handle horror movies ... the images stay with me. I swear the creepy old lady from The Others (last scary movie I tried to watch) is living in my old apartment!
There are very few movies I don't like. A few absolute favorites are (in no particular order):
Hero; The Returner; Killer; Berserk; Spirited Away; Salton Sea; The Philadelphia Story; Harvey; Boondock Saints; Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels; Blade trilogy; V for Vendetta.
I don't watch television ... if a show is really good, I'll catch it on DVD.
Alias, Monk, Family Guy, Dexter's Laboratory (these episodes never got officially released but an amazing friend recorded a bunch for me during a Dexter's Lab marathon on Cartoon Network)
British comedies: Black Adder, Jeeves & Wooster, Bit of Fry & Laurie (finally getting released on DVD with new episodes!!) I hesitate to list these because anyone who watches them will realize I'm not as funny as some people think I am ... I steal most of my stuff from the brilliant writers of these shows :p
I used to read all the time ... during dinner and while I was walking home from school. I was always in the middle of at least three different books. I don't find that much time anymore, but I have a few favorites over the years:
Don't Stop the Carnival - Herman Wouk (how important it is to follow your dreams no matter how your plans turn out)
The Double, Dream of a Ridiculous Man, & White Nights - Fyodor Dostoyevsky (how any seemingly insignificant event in life can actually be a major turning point)
The Red Tent - (how important family is in the history and development of each person)
Master & Margarita - Mikhail Bulgakov (this is the book I would bring to a deserted island)
Anyone who believes enough in themselves and their dreams to speak their mind without forcing others to go along with them, and has enough conviction in what they are doing to take the first most difficult steps themselves.
