About Me
The lone blues singer, sometimes I play the blues on my own as Bottleneck John! Mostly old-timey 1920's and 30's unpolished, raw Delta & Country blues stuff..
Spirituals, of course, are also an essential part of my repertoire!!What better way to get your audience in the mood than with a set of laid back stuff from the Delta?I play mostly resonator guitars, Tricones and Singlecones, my beloved tin-cans, in tunings and have one foot pounding out the rhythm on the floorboards... Some stuff in regular as well.. Vintage instruments such as ol'timey Levin guitars are favourites too! One of my trusted workhorses is a 1933 National Duolian, I just love the mechanically amplified sound..
Classic tunes from Robert Johnson, Son House, Blind Willie Johnson, Skip James, Muddy Waters, Bukka White etc.. As well as my own songs in the genre..!! From time to time some friends join in on Mandolin, Fiddle, Harmonica, Double Bass, Piano, Drums etc. An ACOUSTIC DELTA BLUES BAND!!
Here's a video clip with the band:
The Bottleneck John Band - Live at the 2007 Östersund Blues Festival!!
I just found an old guitar-banjo and it sounds great for the ol'timey material we play in the BJ trio..
Lately it..s been a constant travelling around to do gigs, solo and in bands.
A highlight so far is me playing in front of nearly one million people in Swedish national television!! That was something extraordinary..
Playing live as often as I can!
There..s nothin.. better than playin.. in front of an audience that likes the music from my heart & soul.. A great feeling!
I keep my music acoustic, the sound of these instruments warms my soul!!
