About Me

KOILE: (pronounced koy-leh) Deriv. from puakoile (n) tokelau lang. an early stage of coconut, after the flower has fallen and before the milk is formed inside < coconut seeds >

'KOILE is a roots/reggae outfit originally dedicated to Marley anthems and sunshine grooves. The ancestral mix within this band has a strong umbilical influence on the sound that they create and is evident in the response to their performance of unwavering Pasifika roots with diverse facets of genres.

’KOILE is a southern-based collective presenting a potent cross-cultural mix of migration to Aotearoa anchored in the deep south of Otepoti / Dunedin.

As part of Iva-Pacific Arts in Christchurch Wed 4 - Sat 7 Feb, 'Koile will play support for celebrated Pasifika reggae band Herbs Unplugged. Tickets: early bird $20+bkg fee and $30 at the door. Come celebrate with us, the best of Pacific Arts in Aotearoa. See ya there!..
