I'm a guitarist/bassist/vocalist who loves to play blues and rock 'n roll. I've been playing this music since I was a boy in junior high school, mostly for fun but also as a serious avocation. I've been influenced by zillions of bands from the 50s through the present, but I prefer roots type rock and blues. This would be considered American roots rock but I have certainly listened to many bands from England and elsewhere. Most of the English bands that I enjoy were influenced by American blues.
I have always loved the sound of a well played electric guitar, usually a soaring blues or rock solo in the style of Hendrix or Clapton. I also admire a jazzy style solo in the style of Wes Montgomery. To me these are the real deals. Another style I hugely like is the electric slide in the style of Duane Allman or Johnny Winter. I never tire of this music.
I'm now using a Gibson Les Paul guitar, although I play other guitars at various times such as Fender Stratocasters or Telecasters. The Les Paul really has the sound and feel that suits me. I prefer Fender and Ampeg amps, but I have also used Marshalls and Mesas. My current bass is a Gibson SG bass.
I divide my time between New York City and the Connecticut shore. I have worked with many bands over the years in both places. I have had a lot of fun with this and have made many friends.
In New York, I now enjoy going to open jam sessions and playing with the awesome players on the scene here. I also play in a duo call "BlueBird" with my talented friend Leigh Harrison. Check out the BlueBird MySpace Page.
In Connecticut I play lead guitar in the Bokum Road Band and bass with the Stopa Brothers. We play at private parties and small clubs on the CT shore. I've also recently discovered some hugely good players on the jam session scene in Connecticut.
SongCrew is my record label. I have recorded two CDs on this label. The first called "Light Blue" is a collection of some of favorite songs. I recorded this on an 8 track tape machine back in the 90s. The second is called "Shackles", recorded digitally in 2004 and 2005. Feel free to visit the Shackles MySpace Page.
