Michael and Eddie are two broke college graduates who rent an "apartment garage" from Stan, an old blind war veteran. Over the course of 30 days Michael realizes he has more in common with Stan than he does with his best friend. While Eddie is in a rush to find a "real" job and get as far away from his parents as possible, Michael wishes he could go back to the house he lived in before his parents died. "Running Funny" is a story about a transition we all make, one in which accepting the inevitable changes in life means you have to stop running to move ahead.
Originally produced as a play, Running Funny premiered at the Williamstown Theater Festival in 1988 and featured a then unknown actor named Paul Giamatti in the role of Michael Kaminski. Anthony Grippa adapted the play with Charles Evered in 2005 and began raising funds to shoot the film. "I knew I wasn't going to have a lot of money to shoot the movie, so we kept that in mind while writing the script," says Grippa. "You don't need a lot of money to make a good movie. You just need great ideas." Look for Running Funny to premiere at a film festival VERY SOON!
Running Funny will have its U.S. Theatrical Premiere at Facets Cinematheque in Chicago on November 21st! Visit www.facets.org for more info and to purchase tickets.
