About Me

Well this site is unashamedly a look into everything or at least some of the things that fill my life on a daily basis....................................................... ................................................. First things first "MUSIC" dj since 95, producer since 04, luv my hardcore, jungle/techno and old skool beats, Adonis, Unique 3, Origination, G Double E, Noise Factory, Satin Storm, Tronik House, Top Buzz, Phuture Assasins, The Hedge Hog Affair, Kev Bird, Rhythm for Reasons, Oaysis, C-Biz, Bay B Kane, DJ Crystl, Babylon Timewarp, DJ Distroi & Boykz, FBD Project, Jim Polo & Neil Vass, Engineers Without Fears, FORCE MASS MOTION, ANT HILL MOB, ESSENCE OF AURA, GORDON EDGE, THE MEN FROM DEL BOSCA, etc etc, i am obviously also well into my drum and bass, TWISTED, G-DUB, CLIPZ, TC, FUTURE PROPHECIES, Craggz & Parallel Forces, COMMIX, SPIRIT, GOLDIE, DIGITAL, HEIST, JAMAL, LYNX, DOM, MARTYN, VAPOUR, LOMAX, PHOTEK, CALYX, TEE BEE, MAMPI, BLAME, DILLINJA, BAILEY, GROOVERIDER etc etc......................................................... ................................................ Rhythm is a strange thing, almost mystical in nature, nature influenced by mathematics. Its just sitting there waiting for us to grab, all the patterns floating in space. When we make music were just highlighting something thats already there. Imagine if you will an invisible stair case with someone standing at the top pouring paint down it, now you can see it, now you can hear it, as musicians this is what we do. Unfortunatly a lot of music is second hand or a bad imitation if you like, a wicked bassline is just a wicked bassline and does not a good track make. I like tracks that have a story to tell, imagine opening a book two thirds of the way through and trying to apreciate it, you cant as you havent heard the intro, all good tracks take you on a voyage and will stand the test of time. One of the most amazing things about music is the visual representation of sound as a colour. Many years ago I was sitting in a car smoking and listening to an old cassete tape, it was pitch black out side and as I stared deep into the darkness I could hear a bluey/green soundscape almost like a horizon, I later found out the track was called Turquoise by the well known producer T Power, coinsidence ? I want to quickly mention Pigeon holing, thisstep thatstep, crapstep, something LTJ Bukem said in an interview with M8 magazine almost 13 yrs ago has stuck with me. When asked what he thought of the new Intelligent/Jump up DnB monickers one of his replies was something like this, a deep or mellow track can still be “jump up”, a bassline or break within a track can still be jump up without reference to any genre ie “Jump Up”. very insightful i think....................................................... ..................................................So i got into the whole rave thing in 1990 at the tender age of 10. I would tape a lot of the early stuff of the radio, Altern8, Njoy, Urban hype, Utah Saints, Klf etc, i didnt even know what it was called then. Eventually a friend subscribed to Quest in 93 and i found out who was who with mix tapes and flyers galore. Unfortunatly Scotland was pretty slow to catch on to the scene, im not going to preach, we all know the story, breakbeats werent understood with techno being prevalent and a decent rave was extremely hard to find, but fortunatly by 94/95 the jungle sound was breaking through and regular nights started popping up here and there. I went to all the early raves in Edinburgh- Jungle Book, Street Knowledge, Jungle Magic. All the raves at the Venue, La Belle Angel, the Tower, Pottersrow, also went to Aberdeen, Dundee and Glasgow Regularly from 95 onwards. I was pretty much lucky enough to meet all my "heroes" then!, i was just a kid!! how i got into any of them places is beyond me. One of the most important tools in the preaching of our trade has been bbc radio "one in the jungle". Ive extremely fond memory's of logging into the pilot in 95. Ive recorded a lot of radio one's live events over the years! my most favourite has to be djSS and MC Navigator at la belle angel 96, i was there on the night and i have the recording on one in the jungle, another is Grooverider and mc Sp at the Honeycombe 2003, absolutely Blazin!!!!! wish id been to that one. Also them 1xtra nights are awesome!!i could go on for ever, d60's all over the place. I still go to raves/clubs and always will, im a connoisseur of the music and ive stuck with it through thick and thin, i love the roots and how the whole thing has evolved always touching on its early beginings. Ive tried my very hardest to teach myself how to make music over the past 3 years, but without anyone telling me how to do it has been tough, ive a long way to go. Ive recently hooked up with DJ Kemzino (Kent) a like minded dnb/dj producer who is currently remixing a track for me which is a real boost. :).......................................................... .............................................I'll listen to pretty much anything from the 70's 80's 90's, big tunes on my mp3 player at the minute are Ragga Twins "ragga trip", Blowfly - "sesame street", Todd Terry -"merderah", Calibre - "late night squeeze", Utah Saints -"something good", Doc Scott - "NHS (Groover.
