D. Stiff was born in Illinois in July 1984. Raised in Illinois until he was 13, his mother, who he credits as the individual who first introduced him tomusic, moved the family to the St. Louis area when he was in the 8th grade. Eventually, they landed in a suburban area of St. Louis. D. Stiff, being theyoungest of four brothers, spent most of his days playing sports and following his older brothers around the city. He grew up in St. Louis and experiencedfirst-hand the dangers and temptations of life on the street. As a result, he began playing sports in high school to stay out of the streets and to keep himoccupied. In hopes that one day he could earn a schloarship that would land him in college. At first having success in basketball, his older brother Deedrickintroduced him to organized football. D. Stiff excelled at the sport and several offers were made for him to play collegiately. D. Stiff's passion forfootball helped earn him a schloarship.
In 2003, D. Stiff left the gritty streets of his St. Louis neighborhood and moved to the state of Iowa. "I really thought I'd end up playing football inthe NFL one day," he said. But after listening to MCs like Lil Wayne, LL Cool J, Nas, Tupac, Kanye West, Ludacris, 50 Cent and Jay-Z day after day, D. Stiffbecame interested in the rap game. "Rappers like Jay and Wayne brought something different to the music. They attracted people to it." Fortunately, D. Stiffhas chosen to pick up the mic and lead St. Louis back into the hip-hop spotlight.
"My Style is different than other artist, I'm rappin' about things that I've been through and struggles that I've overcome, when I rap I want you to seethrough my glasses and feel what I've been through. That's why I write 100% of my songs, cause I believe if it's not your story you can't convey it thesame." Mainly a hip hop artist, D. Stiff is one of the most versatile upcoming MC's in the business. Making songs for the ladies, clubs, as well as thestreets, this artist can do it all. Known for his punchlines, smooth delivery and a sound like no other, this man seems to always raise the eyebrows of hisdoubters. "This is why I decided to stick to the name D. Stiff, that's my real name. I believe if you stay true to yourself and know your capabilities, noone can stop you."
