DJ Chronic’s disc jockeying career started in 1998, just after he finished his O’level in Ibadan Grammar School. His parents asked him what he would like to do for the main time before he got admission into a Higher Institution, and he told them he would love to train to become a DJ. This did not come as a surprise as they had been aware of his deep passion for music since childhood. His parents despite being Preachers supported his dream and gave him their approval and all the support he needed.Moreover, he was also inspired by DJ Spin of Flavor Unit (Now based in USA) as he used to play at most shows Chronic attended while in High School. DJ Spin was approached by Chronic’s mother as she explained to him her son’s interest. Spin who was a turntable wizard at the time was impressed and quite willing to teach Chronic, and thus lessons started the very same day. Training under one of the best DJs was a huge privilege. It was also fun, but hard work. At the age of 16, Chronic had to get used to a matured Social life, traveling around, meeting new people, and working with various kind of people under different circumstances. Within 3 months Chronic was already handling parties by himself. He worked with DJ Spin for about 2 years before moving to Rhythm King’s Studio in New Bodija, Ibadan where he learnt more new skills and gained more exposure.In 2004, DJ Chronic decided to move to the UK to further his education. He studied International Business Foundation at the Bradford College in West Yorkshire, where he also found opportunities to use and improve his Disc Jockeying Skills. Initially he started playing for friends at house parties and private functions, and soon his name had spread rapidly around Bradford and neighboring cities like Leeds, Huddersfield, Sheffield, etc.Later in 2006, he became one of the residents DJ at Bradford University playing at the weekly R&B nights themed ‘Block Partyâ€. He also became the permanent DJ for the University’s ASC (Afro-Caribbean Society). He also worked with Leeds University and Huddersfield University’s ACS on various occasions. Since his move to the UK, he has played at so many clubs and events around the UK.His ability to keep the dance floor packed and jumping for long hours has given special recognition among so many other DJs. He also DJs on Nigeria’s 1 online radio station, TruSpot radio. http://www.mytruspotradio.com. At the moment, Chronic and some of his mates are currently setting up a Record Label in Nigeria. La familia Records, as it is named is based in the Ojodu area of Lagos State, and they are currently breeding some hot upcoming Hip-hop and R&B artistes who are about to change the face of the Nigerian music industry.Apart from disc jockeying, Chronic also enjoys rapping, writing, organizing events, going to church, chilling with his friends and family, and spending quality time with his girlfriend.
