Music of the Week!!!!
This song was chosen because it captures my thoughts and feelings so well right now, and I guess I wish more people would just "follow me into the dark."
This week: Death Cab for Cutie: "I Will Follow You Into the Dark"
"Love of mine,
Someday you will die,
But I'll be close behind,
I'll follow you into the dark,
No blinding light,
Or tunels to gates of white,
Just our hands clasped so tight,
Waiting for the hint of the spark
If heaven and hell decide,
That they both are satisfied,
Elluminate the No's on their vacancy signs
If there's no one beside you,
When your soul embarks,
Then I will follow you into the dark..."
Hey, everyone! Welcome to my myspace page, made with tender loving care in the hopes that millions would follow me to potential...um...yeah...
Aaaaanyways......
Hi. My name is Nik (and if you didn't know that already than you probably shouldn't be looking at this page...). I am currently a student at McNally-Smith College of Music located in St. Paul, Minnesota.
I am always up for having a great time with friends, no matter what the situation.
My hobbies consist of playing the guitar, eating, whitewater rafting, jumping off insanely high cliffs, making movies, working at Borders, being active, four-wheeling, getting questioned by the cops, laughing at all the people who are still stuck in high school, hanging with friends, sometimes checking e-mail and myspace, acting, snowboarding, surfing, boogie-boarding, lying on the beach in Hawaii, swimming, performing stupid stunts, hiking up Silverstar, driving up to a quiet spot and watching the stars, and never wasting a moment, but not necessarily in that order.
My favorite kind of peope are the one's who you can talk to when there's nothing to talk about and hang out with when there's absolutely nothing to do. Sometimes I like having a reason to do things before I do them, and other times I just do random things for no apparent reason or moral.
No matter what anyone says, turning up your music full-blast and singing as loud as you can when your driving by yourself is the coolest thing. And for all the people who see you singing to yourself in a car and think your crazy, they're just jealous because they have never experienced what it's like to just let yourself go....
Last but definitely not least, the following huge section is my own personal tribute to my friends who have made an impact on my life - you're awesome! This is my tribute to you all (not in order of importance, so don't get riled up!):
Dave - We decided to go rafting overnight on the upper half of the Washougal river, and we saw the creepy old shacks with a dead cat hanging out of a busted window and where we almost went down a super-deadly, churning rapid chain in the dark because we wanted to get as far away from those shacks!
John - To be honest, you and I have way too many quotes that we share to put on here. Good times in Santos' class and summer! Thanks for all the help with the band! Don't ever forget all the crazy shit we've been through, all the things you have listed on your site! Great times snowboarding and filming! It's crazy to be your roommate. Sometimes you act like my mom, but that's alright...I guess...
Emily - Hello, my love! Anyway, I guess I can just write that I miss you, because somehow I ALWAYS do! How lucky are we for you to muster up the courage to drop off your number at work. For anyone who doesn't quite know the story of how Emily and I met, I was working and she bought some book that she really didn't want/need because she wanted to talk to me (keep in mind I didn't know that at the time). So of course we started talking again, and then she left and I was ringing up other people and then she appeared out of nowhere and then gave me her number and LEFT!
So.....I called it! And we met and went to Starbuckaroos and hit it off from there! Anyway, yeah, that's the story, and I love telling it because it's so unique! Emily, you are the greatest girl in the world because you actually delve in to the deep stuff of relationships, rather than focus on the facade that everyone else tries to throw up around their relationships, and I think we've survived because of it. I love you and I miss you! I am looking forward to being able to come back to see you during Christmas so we can have fun again like good old times!
Jake - "My hips are hot!" The Blue Rattler! Remember tearing it up in school parking lot! You've always been there for me, as well as for anyone else. If anyone wants to know what a true friend is like, definitely know that Jake is the best at always being there. Great times snowboarding, and I'm looking forward to more to come!
Mike - Thanks again for installing my CD player! I finally came through with those cigars! Remember the good old days when we formed that crazy-ass awesome band and jammed our hearts out! That was my first band, and it was definitely fun, even though we really never got anything done. Good luck with everything!
Aaron - "Who-oa! Cheeri-o!" Even though we get frustrated, we keep strong! Good times during the summer! Remember the red arms after jumping of five-mile! Almost flipping the raft! I learned so much musically from you during our stint with Watershed. I wish you the best of luck with the Lost Boys, and hopefully we can get together again and jam!
Kyle - "You know what? I think I may have lysdexia..." Writing songs in your garage! The musical genius behind Watershed! Good luck with all your acting!
Kevin - Crazy after-concert parties at your place! You are a crazy drummer! Looking forward to more good times!
CJ - Soccer and jumping off more cliffs! You have a lot going for you. I keep on thinking that whenever I visit your profile you're going to have moved to the North Shore of Hawaii or be surfing some beach in Cali. Good luck in everything, including your new business!
Cory - This is the man! I hope you're keeping safe down there in Biloxi! You're doing a good thing and we're all cheering for you back here! Can't wait to see you again! Remember Chelsea's car, your mom and Jeff in Hawaii, and soccer! I almost beat that ref up for you, man! You've got everything going good for you, so keep at it!
Kyle Cooke. - I know we didn't get to hang out too much during school, but just want to let you know that you're awesome and you're one of the strongest guys I know! We're all behind you! Remember the shaved heads!
Alicia - "You're my wonderwall..." That might possibly be the best song...still. Sorry things got weird and everything, but I think we've learned our lesson, right?
Kira - I haven't seen you in forever, but remember making pizza in 8th grade and all of the middle school drama we created! I miss you!
Amy - Good times in middle school! Hopefully one day you'll come back for a visit and we can hang out! Remember the carpool every day to school! It SO beat riding the bus!
Jalina - We're so good at hanging out and talking for awhile and then drifting apart for awhile. Remember walking down to waterfall and me almost dying! That was awesome! I'm glad things are going well for you! Hopefully we can hang out soon!
Kelsey - Well, heres another person that I havent seen forever but spent years at school with! Good times with Michael and Kristina and Jalina and everyone else! Making apple dumplings until like 3 in the morning and working apple fest for hours on end! Sorry I missed the little Riverside Reunion. We haven't talked too much in the past years, and I'll admit I was kind of an asshole in middle school (okay, a giant asshole....um....that sounds weird). Hopefully we can just hang out someday and not get into an argument! You're awesome! I'll see you at Borders!
Michael Webberley - "I think her name is 'Buh!'" My man over in Idaho! Remember our stupid immature fights we got into over those certain girls in middle school! I'm glad things are all cool between us now and I hope you and Coral are still together! You two are great for each other! Remember the good times in Sun River! I need to come out to Caldwell to hang out! Road Trip!
Kenny - Hey, I totally went up to SkiBowl a couple of weeks ago and found out that you moved up there and are working there now! Crazy! I dont know what happened to Phoenix, but give me a call sometime!
Sean - "We do it hardcore, unlike all you girly-men!" Go, ah-nold! You're an awesome director-actor-cameraman-coreographer! Remember jumping off the steel bridge in the middle of winter! It snowed that night! Good times trying to hold on to the innertube while being drug behind a boat and playing frisbee in the burning sand! Too bad we got your tattoo wet!
Carly - Hey, thanks for being a great person and always being the happy person that you are! Remember Gregersen's office while I had absolutely nothing to do and skipping 6th period! Don't worry, everyone, it's not as bad as it sounds! What ever happened to my crown that you made?
Mindy - Hope everything is working out for you! We all miss you back here! Great memories of the many plays and skits that we did! What was it...Smack-IT! I'm just glad Carly hasn't found that picture of me in the costume.....
Kim - "Kim-elvira!" There are too many memories shared between you, Mindy, and me! Good acting days and birthday parties! We totally kicked can at laser tag! And yes, we also won the scavenger hunt because I had to shave my leg and stuff a giant orange into my mouth (see pictures for details). You're awesome!
Kim A. - "I'd like a Cheesy Gordita Crunch without any of the...uh...Bruno...no...blasta...no...BAJA sauce!" You CANNOT tickle me while I'm driving my car for fear of getting in an accident! Good times almost dying while innertubing in Trout Lake (ie. "It's only a *small* waterfall...").
Devin - Good times at Aviation Safeguards! Sorry I left you, man! I had had enough of the place! We need to jam sometime! And you need to show me your apartment! Good trip up to Seattle! Clubbing with all the stuck-up, snotty Seattle girls, running out of money, and almost running out of gas!
Angie - The girl from Vegas has arrived! Yeah, just to let you know, Christina almost couldn't wait for you to get to Portland so she could kick me off of dispatch. Well, kinda....anyway, thanks for all the support for the band and the Oasis CD and the tickle-fights (I'm NOT ticklish, by the way), and the list goes on! It was fun working with you! But we still need to hang out sometime...
Wendy - "I didn't think I was going to dress up for this thing..." Remember our first (almost) date disaster? I'm glad we worked things out or I don't know if we would have even talked afterwards! Going swimming in the dark at 5-mile and me stupidly jumping off the cliff! The ride home was SOOOO cold! Good luck with everything! I'm sure I'll see you in Borders!
Vivian - Hopefully one of these days well be able to hang out again like we did that one week! I had a blast when you were up here! Good luck with school and everything! You have a lot going for you!
Grace - Remember the crazy times we had hanging out with Cory like when you snuck like three feet out of your house for the first time! Hopefully well hang out someday!
Brandy - I cant believe you married! Congrats again on everything! Its weird to see you *all grown up* after countless hours of practicing the same scripts and preparing for shows and skits and everything! It was good to see you for the two minutes I did when you came into Borders and hopefully Ill see you again before I leave (hopefully) for Australia/Minnesota/Timbuktu! Good luck to you in everything that youre doing!
Brandee - What up, bitches?! Hope college life is suiting you! The life of the parties and acting class! Washougal will never be the same without you! And I promise, one of these days we will tell you that were coming up to visit you and we will actually come up to visit you! We just have to figure out when! Ill see you soon!
Brittni - Thanks for coming to all those Watershed shows! You can almost always expect to see you at a show! I remember when you sat through one of our first practices with Aaron as our singer in Mooks garage! I would hope weve come a long way since then! But thanks for all your support and memories!
Teresa - How many parties have a dragged you to where you didnt know any of the people? Remember walking into Kevins house and everyone just stopped and stared? Little bit uncomfortablegood times! Im glad you got a new job! See you around!
Jesika - I really wasnt trying to hit on you that day at the airport! I was just coming up to say hey! Anyway, weve had some good times within the high school years but we never really got to hang out unfortunately! Maybe sometime soon!
Paige - Paige pretty much uses colgate! Watersheds number one fan right here! I think youve gone to every single concert that weve had! Are you getting sick of our music yet? By the way, I dont know how many people know this, but you have a Watershed t-shirt and ALSO Watershed underwear! That is dedication! Remember driving around and playing cops and robbers and stopping traffic because people thought we were really fighting? We totally kicked ass! See you at one of our upcoming shows Im sure!
Mark - I dont really know what to say about you, Mark! Youre pretty much one of a kind! By the way, we need to film the sequel to our government movie! Thanks for losing your voice at the Battle of the Bands by cheering us on! Its weird how we didnt every really talk all through high school until senior year, and then in Ikes class and stuff. It was cool to finally hang out with you, man! See you around!
Tonya - Hello! It was great to be able to hang out with you and talk to you all throughout the high school years! Youve been a great person to know and I hope everything is going well for you! We need to hang out! Give me a jingle sometime! See ya!
Summer - Ve are going to pump joo up! Hows everything going for you! I know we havent talked in a while, but I want you to know that Ill never forget hanging out with you and everyone else at my first high school. Its weird to look at everyone and see how much theyve changed between being a freshman and graduating. When youre with them all four years you dont really see any differences, but when you only get to see them every few months or even once a year, you definitely notice changes! Hopefully one of these days I will be able to make it over to hang out with you! See ya later!
Brittany B. - What is up, Ms. Im-Going-to-Japan-for-Summer? I hope senior year is going well and you arent getting too stressed out by the senior project and stuff! Its really not that difficult I promise! Remember I finally got a chance to come to one of your game nights! Good times! You have to let me know when the next one will be! I always find it weird to go hang out at your house and then theres my math teacher from fifth grade watching me play twister or DDR. I always think shes going to sit me down and make me do flash cards! Anyway, hopefully I will see you soon!
Sarah - Hows life over in Camas? I havent talked to you FOREVER! I hope everything is going well and youre enjoying life away from high school! I know I am! Remember Cory always trying to hook us up? He was always trying to introduce me to his friends! I wish we could have hung out more often! Maybe sometime soon!
Andie - Well, I havent talked to you forever, but how can I forget you? You and Cory were like attached at the hips for over a year! Whenever I saw him, you were there too! Im glad I got to meet you and hang out! Youve always been a great person and I will never forget you, even though youre all the way up in Olympia now! Hope everything is going well for you up there! See ya!
Brittany - It was good to finally hear from you after a few years of not talking and then finding out that you live so close to the high school and we never hung out! Well, there are so many good memories of Riverside that involved you and everyone else, but Ill always remember b-ball and soccer and wallball and everything else crazy that we did! Ill see you soon!
Annie J. - Why did you have to move?! Some people might get jealous, and others might agree, but you were one of the coolest people at Washougal! I hope everything is going fine for you down in the south and youre staying out of harms way! Is there any chance youre coming back to visit anytime soon? We all miss you back here!
Kat D. - Hey, it's been so long since we've hung out! It was great to see you at the concert on April 1st, and I'm sorry we weren't able to hang out or anything. Give me a call sometime!
Rhianna H. - I guess life kinda got in the way of us always hanging out, but while it lasted it was lots of fun! Remember Spanish class with Dona and me actually letting you cut my hair!
Micah W. - Remember all the good times and drama way back in the days of Riverside! It was great to come in to an unknown school and have you there as a great friend, and thanks! Hopefully everything is going well for you!
Melissa W. - I still can't believe that we hardly even talked back in high school and now we somehow meet up at all those crazy parties! You are a very awesome person and if there's one thing I regret, it's that we didn't hang out more in high school...
br
Chelsea C. - Wow, remember all the good times hanging out with Cory in your car and everywhere else we went! How's Pullman? You should most definitely give me a jingle whenever you're in town next. Hopefully it will be before I leave in May...
Lindsey B. - For some reason I thought we kinda had a little rivalry going on in Santos' class, but alas, you were by far much better a student than I...The girls always beat the guys in copetitions because of you, I had the highest senior project practice score until you presented...oh, well...It was great to get to know you senior year and I wish you the best of luck in everything you do!
Aly - Well, it took you forever to actually approve me to be Emily's boyfriend, and just a week or so after you do we con you in to coming to our concert where we play so loud we blow your eardrums (literally) and make you partially deaf...WE'RE SORRY! Please get better!
Nathan C. - You're a cool kid and I love the movie's you guys make! I was hoping before I left that we'd be able to make a movie together (not in the gay way!), but it's not looking like that's going to happen. Good luck to you in directing and I hope you make it!
Julie L. - So, again, for some reason we let a whole lot of drama get in the way of us continuing to be friends, and for that I'm sorry. I'm glad I still talk to you every couple months or so, and I hope the best for you in whatever you choose to do. You have so much potential and I'm sure by the time I get back from college you will be a very successful person!
Sabrina - Well, unfortunately I can't say too much about you except that our paths seem to cross every now and then, and it's always fun to hang out with you and the rest of the gang whenever we meet up!
Becky B. - You're so hott! Don't let anyone tell you anything different. You have so much potential to become anything you want to be! Thanks for always being there for me during the high school years, and I'm sorry I wasn't quite as good a friend to you as you were to me. Hope to hear from you sometime before I leave!
Tyler N. - What's up, Supervisor? You're pretty awesome! I will always remember Three Steps to Mario as the best friggin' band in the world! It's always fun working with you!
Jenny O. - Jenny definitely makes marks! You are an amazingly awesome person and I'm so lucky to have met you at the coolest place to work - BORDERS! I need more training in the CAFE!!! Tell me the next time you go surfing and I will try and work up my courage and go with you!
Jake - You've always been a great friend and a great actor! I hope everything continues to go well for you in whatever you do!
Betsy - You are an amazing actress, and I wish you the best in whatever you choose to do! Remember the tons of fun we had in Gregerson's class and in Arsenic and Old Lace. Rock on!
Greg/Gary K. - You are pretty much one-of-a-kind...I will definitely alwasy remember jumping off the 5-mile cliffs in the beginning of April in to the freezing cold waters of the Washougal and of the many crazy parties we've gone to!
Ryan Frizbee! - You are such a cool kid! Thanks for coming to all the Watershed concerts and for supporting, well, pretty much everything! Good luck with work and school! We're going to make another movie before I leave...
Dani F. - Yeah, things got weird there for awhile, and I really hope everything is going well for you! I totally miss your old house on the river and the countless hours spent swimming and camping and roasting marshmallows! I miss the good old days with you...
Max A. - Man, back in middle school, we were the best of buds, always playing Final Fantasy VII and playing video games on your computer! I would always have to beg you to download and burn me some music because I didn't know how...crazy! Good luck to everything you do!
Tiffany - Congratulations on the marriage and the baby on the way! It's always cool and different to see your friends from high school move on so fast with their lives. I wish you the best of luck and I look forward to seeing you in ten years or so at a reunion...
Jon H. - We have got to set a date and just jam on the guitfiddles! It's always fun to play a show with you and the Lost Boys because you're such a talented guitarist, and I really look up to you! I'm going to try and come to that Dave Matthews concert this summer, but unfortunately no promises...
Amanda B. - You owe me a back massage!!!I totally remember that one night that we went over to Eddy's house and stayed up all night watching Sleepover ("Why do they freeze their bras?" Actually, I really forgot why...) and Saw. The worst part was that I had to go to work the next day! I was sooo tired, but it was totally worth it! Hopefully we can have another sleepover/massage party before I leave!
David B. - It was more than awesome that you just so happened to land in Ms. Todd's class! I wish that we could have gotten a chance to go snowboarding and all, but it's only been recently that I got good enough to be able to keep up with you! Hope everything is going well for you!
Andrea H. - That's kinda a crazy story how we met and all, some wedding down in the middle of nowhere in New Mexico while we were both on vacation...crazy...it's even crazier that we've kept in contact with each other for this long! I hope everything is going well for you in college! Maybe one of these years we will reunite and catch up on old times!
Kyley - "Fabulous!" I gotta say, in all honesty, whenever I was working with you, you made the work day a whole lot more fun and it seemed to fly by like no other. I understand that you had to find a better job and all, but we still miss you...
Kelsey S. - You are an AMAZING singer! If I wasn't involved in Watershed and moving away, I would totally form a band with you and we would become famous! Never give up on your singing and playing the guitar, because I can tell it is your calling!
Brianna F. - Well, we were quite the item back in 5th grade, and I wish we still could have remained friends after then, but it is cool that we still kinda keep in contact. I hope everything is going well for you!
Kristina A. - Another middle-school friend I haven't kept in contact with as much as I wish I would have. I'm sure by the time I get back from college you will be long gone doing something crazy!
Sarah H. - Most of my memories with you come from Maui, where it was totally awesome! Remember the bike ride at like three in the morning down a volcano! AWESOME!
Scott L. - You were friggin' awesome in our government movie, which just so happens to be one of my favorite movies out of all the ones we've made! Good luck with your music and everything else!
Tasha - Well, I've only known you for a short while, but you are definitely a cool person and you owe me a movie! It's not a date, just a coworker hangout!
Mattseph - I promise, man, trees fell over my driveway and there was no way I could get to work on time!!! Why does it always seem that you're working whenever I have to call to explain some freak accident! You're a cool guy! I'm not trying to avoid you!
The list goes on an on! If you didn't see your name on here, PLEASE don't feel sad or get angry at me! This is an ongoing effort! Slowly but surely I'll get everyone's name up here! If your name isn't on here right now, please know that I love you still!
