I'm one of the Japanese "working-poor" people.
I was born and raised near the mother-lake "Biwa-ko". In my childhood I was trained classical piano. At age 8, I heard Deep Purple for the first time, and immediately this band became my favorite one. Led Zeppelin was added soon. But I gave priority to classic. Two of my piano mentors are university teaching staff who had learnt and studied music in USA.
At the high school my classmate and I formed a piano duo. We had a lot of fun and learned from it. Since 18 years old, I began to do the piano accompaniment of soprano solo, child chorus and male chorus. I really enjoyed the work.
12th Aug 1987, while I was practising the Chopin Etude Op. 25-12, suddenly I felt a sharp pain on a right wrist. It became difficult to move three middle fingers of the right hand. I was not able to play the piano, write letters, cook anything, ... . An inflammation was caused in the inside muscle of my right lower arm. My doctor told me no cure for the injury.
Nevertheless one year later, it was cured a little. After acquiring Master of Economics, I got the job to teach something (ex. piano, solfege, Economics, or so) in the several nearby junior colleges as a part-time lecturer. At the private time, I enjoyed the chorus of religious tunes or opera... . Of course, my part was a soprano. I can put out high pitch of C6 or D6. I love Handel's "Messiah" especially.
In 1998, I decided it to the concentration of my ability and my time on study. 2004, I got a doctor's degree of Economics (PhD). I'd studied a theory of political economy of art, aesthetics and supporting arts which British economist J.M.Keynes tried to construct inside.
Now I'm working at three universities as a part-time lecturer and a part-time research assistant. I work partially at something involves management of the project's homepage and affairs. I'v been and I am just a Japanese working-poor girl!
I still have my right hand and wrist under the control now.
