The Sanskrit Jam

About Me

The Sanskrit Jam is a collective effort which began in the winter of 2005 based out of Halifax. It is a weekly open jam led by a few individuals and focusses upon call and response singing in sanskrit. The reason for the use of this language is based on the fact that every sound has a distinct and profound effect upon the nervous system. So when one sings in Sanskrit it energizes the entire body releasing the stress, toxins, and repressed emotion that can be stored within the nervous system. As a direct result to this occurence one finds that the consciousness effortlessly and easily slides into deep states of meditation and bliss. It is literally an experience riding on a natural high. Often people are moved into dance and laughter, and smiles are quickly thrown around the room leaving their mark upon the faces of many. It is really a lot of fun.The Sanskrit Jam's popularity has been shown in very rapid growth, within the short time of a couple months the group had grown in number beginning with six to that of as much as sixty or more. The numbers of the jam sessions continue to vary, however independantly of how many people show up for the event it has always proven to be a great time. People are incouraged to bring an instrument, a drum, shakers, anything that makes a sound, but most importantly a voice... and if you can't sing, well that is your neighbors problem! flowers layout @ HOT FreeLayouts.com love / music / movies / frazy Hot Free Layouts
