MySpace Layouts MySpace Codes MySpace BackgroundsFrom 1985-1988 Mistri was a DJ on the pirate radio station Rock-2-Rock, from 1990-1994 he was a Presenter and Assistant Programme Controller on WNK Radio Station North London.When WNK lost it's broadcasting licence Mistri went back to college to study a one-year Producers Sound Engineering Course at South East London Technical College (SELTEC).In February 1999 he was offered the opportunity to present a music programme on FLR Radio, where he played a selcetion of music for many different age groups and races, Monday - Friday 2pm - 6pm.One of the reasons for Mistri's popularity is his vibrant personality, he is able to make even the quietest crowds get up and dance as he tells jokes and entertains on the microphone whilst playing music. In recognition of his talents, the Black Entertainers Enterprise voted him Best Club DJ, 1988-89. the Voice Entertainment Enterprise, Best Radio Personality 1988-89. West End Promotions and Best Club DJ 1990.In 1998 he was a nominee for Best Club DJ at the prestigious MOBO Awards and recently (2001) recieved The Black Music Peoples Award for Outstanding Contributions to the British Music Scene. Mistri's television portfolio includes co-producing the show Upstart for IDTV (cable tv).He has also had cameo roles in LWT's London Burning and BBC 1's Birds of A Feather and Chef programmes. In addition to his many talents, Mistri is a n agent and advisor for various club DJ's, having recently formed his own group of DJ's called The Mistri Crew.Benefitting his popularity and ability to entertain andy crowd. Mistri is hired by many celebrities including Lennox Lewis, Omar, Nigel Benn, D-Influence, R Kelly and Crystal Rose to host and entertain at their private fuctions. He also DJ's for promoters such as Loud And Proud, RJS (annual Mediterranean holiday), Pride Magazine, The Voice Newspaper,Choice FM, Stone Love Sound System in Jamaica, Blue Mountain Theatre Company (also starring in their Christmas Pantomime - "The Magic Dutch Pot" in 1999), Gee-Stor Promotion Company. His contribution to Charitable Functions include Sickle Cell Society and Leukaemia Research Fund. He has also played music at Holloway Woman's Prison, (as part of his charity work) and most recently the BT EMMA Awards after party (at Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane).As on of London's most popular DJ's for well over a decade, Mistri is ideally placed to see what people enjoy and what works in the world of entertainment. He has promoted many sell-out events both on his own and other business partners, most notably The Cartel (which filled the luxurious Excelsior Hotel at Heathrow with over 1000 people for 48 hours of entertainment in 1993, 1994 and 1995).Any event Mistri is involved with is fun, value for money, well organised and extensively marketed and promoted. Mistri's contacts with major recording companies ensure that he recieves new and pre-released records, in order to mantain his second-to none record collection. Mistri illustrates that music has a profound influence on our lives and that those who select and play music at clubs and parties, also on radio can sometimes become as relevant as the music itself.
