The stars shone brightly high above the blood-red clouds, bathed in the violet sky. There was no moon in sight. Gnarly trees were twisted and turned all around me, their few leaves clinging fearfully onto the branches for life. Their nearly-dead brethern littered the floor at my feet in yellow, brown, and crimson colors, rustling slowly past my feet in the soft winds. I heard the horrid howls of dying animals in the distance. I was in a place between the living and the dead. A place that was forever set in autumn. With dying creatures that would never completely die. Where rotting plants never completely rot. A place where I was not alone...

Eternal Autumn
With an aura of life ever-dying this forsaken realm is consumed with the muted and somber shades of bleakest autumn. Smoldering fires pollute the unnerving landscape, yet offer not an inkling of warmth. And, leaves of the ever-darkening season -- orange, red, and yellow -- cling to claw-like branches, suggesting flecks of flesh on a decomposed carcass. It's an autumnal place without hope of turning the calendar to winter. A rotting place never rotted. A dying place never dead.

Roses are red,
Red until they become dead.
After that they turn black,
The blood color they now lack.
Early they start to crinkle,
Too late do they realize their own wrinkles.
Down they shall fall,
With only a sad message they give to all.
Bringing about such gloom,
But never again will they bloom.
Scattered across the narrow beaten pathway,
With dreams of a lifetime so far away,

...I started making my way through the skeleton of a forest, passing by the dying leaves rustling past my ankles upon the dirt ground. I was heading towards a different place. One that has a darker sky and a brighter moon. Where the twisted trees were devoid of any leaves and where nothing howled in the distance. Where my feet crushed the dry leaves with each step towards my fate. This was where I truly belong. To finally find true peace under her soft embrace.
