ChrystalVan

Chrystal Van was born in the north of The Netherlands in the late 70s. He grew up in the idyllic countryside in a quiet peaceful town called Dokkum, which is something that he has drawn inspiration from for his music - a unique blend of Beatles-inspired psychedelia and power pop chords. His father was a famous composer and his mother had the voice of an angel. He moved over to the U.K. and started a new life in Liverpool in '97. It was there the young Chrystal Van met Ardal Cravan. "I met him in one of my favourite places.. the Egg. We had a nice veggie meal and had a conversation in Dutch... quite rare in Liverpool no? We discussed life and music...I was just playing around and hadn't really done nothing serious musically before. Ardal invited me over to the studio he had over the river Mersey one day. He was working on some material that was released as his, now lost classic, Colosseum Album. Met some nice other people as well. Strad and a guy we call the dude ha ha. I did some rough songs and we explored our ideas about the songs. In fact the whole crazy roman thought was my idea...mad surf sounds and yeah man...the mystery...good vibes..." Since then Ardal moved on back to live on one of the Islands in Holland. Chrystal has worked on different stuff, more rock, but still writes charming and lyrically trippy acoustic gems from the plains of Friesland. Every now he plays (unannounced) small venues in Liverpool, London and Holland. Nearly twice a year Ardal and the gang meet up and do some recording. "We try to spend as much time as we can find to catch up with each other and record more songs to be released on an album with the working title 'the beach album'.
