Lead Vocals, keyboards, acoustic guitars and jembe drums . He is the front man for the band and so far has written all of the songs, lyrics and music, for the band but they are currently working on new material together which is helping the music develope beyond their expectations. Danie is a self taught musician and started playing keyboards at the age of 16. His love of music started at the age of 4. His mother remembers him sitting spellbound in front of the TV watching anything from classical music to Jazz. Danie was born to do this and will strive to be a success in the music industry as a musician and as a song writer.Chris:
Guitar and backing vocals. He started playing guitar at the age of 6. He has played in numerous bands including the coverband New Gecko. He then joined the band Slide with Tyronne Morris (Saron Gas). Slide got second place in Emerging Sounds competition. They also appeared on Kyknet. Then they formed another band called Saltmine. Prior to joining Saving Silence he was with Drop Dead Gorgeous.Chris is an awesome musician and when him and danie sing together the whole room stares in amazement.Jarrod:
Guitar. Jarrod is the only one who has had any formal training, he started playing guitar at the age of 15 after his uncle gave him his first guitar. He not only loves music, he absolutely lives for it and this shows in the way he drives the band. He has played in several bands to date.Tracy:
Bass Guitar. Tracy started playing the electric guitar from the age of 13 and is self taught. She played for the all girl punk rock band, Hoodwink. After the band split up she joined Saving Silence and has proven that she is a great addition to the band. Her music influences include punk and melodic rock. Tracy adds another important factor to the band and definitly entertains the crowd.Ronnie:
Drummer. The man at the back in the engineroom of Saving Silence started very young banging on his moms pots and pans. Ronnie has really paid his dues in this industry and through the years has played in many rock bands and even a few Jazz bands. Says Ronnie I am very fanatical about what I do. Im always working out new beats. I put my music before most things in life. Ronnie is a serious asset to the band as his technicallity puts him above many.ASPIRATIONSA measure of how well the band has gelled together is the fact that their individual aspirations are the same as the bands. Their music has mainstream appeal and they want not only South Africa to hear it but the whole world.GOALSShort Term:
Perform in some of the more popular and bigger venues locally.
Get a single out and onto the charts.
Make a music video
Do a national tour
Take the South African music scene by storm
Be the support act for a well-known international band.Long Term:
Touch peoples lives through their music and teach the youth of South Africa to believe in themselves and encourage them to make a difference
Really make it big in the international market (specifically the UK and USA) with both a single and an album high up in the charts.
Do an international tourBecause the band knows how much talent we have locally and believes in South African music they would really like to actively start a new wave of SA music globally. Similar to what happened to many Australian bands in the eighties.Artists/Bands that have inspired Saving Silence. An amazing thing about Saving Silence is the diversity of influences each member brings to the band and the sound they create. In general its artists like Live, Counting Crows, Creed, The Police, Lifehouse, Blink182, Deftones, Billy Cobham, The Smiths, AC/DC and many more (each member having completely different tastes). And who could forget SA bands like Prime Circle, The Finks and Spoonfeedas. Even though they are inspired amongst others by numerous hard rockers their music is a more soft alternate melodic rock sound.Strong Selling PointsThe songs are mainstream yet with a new fresh and different feel and sound to it.
Their music will appeal to a mass market and definitely not just a niche one.
The lyrics and music will definitely make their music very accessible to the youth.
The band does everything in a professional manner, take for instance the arrangement of their songs (courtesy of Myles Shannon and the band themselves) which immediately gives you the feeling that they could do well not just locally but internationally as well.
The band is lively and entertaining to watch and musically their songs are catchy. They are sure to get the crowd dancing by the end of every gig...
