....My Trip to Mummers Parade with Family- Jan 2005
..Now you really may ask what is a "Mummer"- they are all volunteer musicians and performers who strut their stuff in the longest parade in America every New Years Day in Philadelphia. They make their own costumes and play the "Happiest Music on Earth", with banjos, accordians, glockenspiels and the like. Go to WWW.MUMMERSARTIST.com to see for yourself why these folks are so awesome. My own grandfather marched with the Greater Kensington String Band once upon a time. I love and miss the Mummers so much since I moved to FloridaMummers on TV Show- 1963..This is what happens AFTER the parade
I'd like to meet:
Every single Veteran and Soldier and personally thank them for their sacrifice - they are brave and selfless. They are true patriots of this land that I love. Thanks ForeverFree History Lesson-Go To This Webpage
From The US STATE DEPThttp://www.state.gov/r/pa/ho/pubs/fs/5902.htm
I would like to meet happy, confident people without an ulterior motive. In other words real folks who make mistakes and are human and show their true concerns and and their own real disappointments. I like genuineness. I've had my fill of mean and hurtful people who did ugly things on purpose.
On another note I would like to meet my sweetheart Jon Bon Jovi and my favorite singer of all times, Aaron Neville. I would like to meet Robert DeNiro, Johnny Depp and George Clooney for actors -but i would honestly rather sit and talk for hours to Billy Graham as I believe him to be genuine and enlightening and I'm sure he could answer many of my spiritual questions.KING of GLORY-Third Day
Music:
Music is one of my best friends- give me a radio and im happy. i especially like live music-like drum and bugle corp competition music- I love that movie Drumline
Growing up in Philadelphia - i listened to lots of music - but i am naturally a Bandstand Baby- whose parents actually met on the show as teenagers in 1954 when Bob Horn ran the show locally a few years before Dick Clark took the show nationwideBut I am really just a little flower child who is still stuck in the 60'sMy first musical love was Jim Morrison from the DoorsMy favorite singer of all times with the voice of an angel is the awesome Aaron Neville- he always gives me chills and its still hard to believe that this voice comes out of this beautiful manI love good guitar players like Eric Clapton, George Thorogood, Lindasy Buckingham, Carlos Santana, Roy Clark-(yes from Hee Haw -who is a classically trained guitarist), Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Tom Petty, The Edge from U2, and Eddie Van Halen. But the Kings will forever be Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page
I still think Neil Young is one of the best rockers there ever was and ever will be.I am still partial to my 3 favorite "Jersey Boys"- Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springsteen and my sweetheart Jon Bon Jovi
Bon Jovi not only rocks out but is a terrific songwriter, along with Dolly Parton, Kris Kristofferson, Lennon and McCartney, Bernie Taupin and Sir Elton John- but the best of my generation is still the fantastically gifted words of Robert Zimmerman-(Bob Dylan)
My favorite female voices are Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Gracie Slick ,Annie Lennox, Cyndi Lauper, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Nettles, Martina McBride and the fantastic Mary J BligeMary J and U2- WOW
I am so proud of Philadelphias own - Patti LaBelle and Bianca Ryan the girl from Mayfair who won Americas Got Talent-Way to Go Bianca
On a sad note I miss many old rockers, Jim Morrison- my first true love, Jimi Hendrix- the guitar king and Janis Joplin-the queen of the 60's,-all lost in 1970- The Year MY Music Died- ironically I lived in Hollywood California for 6 mos at age 11 and was coming home from 6th grade and saw the ambulance on a corner taking someone out on a stretcher covered in a sheet. It was October 4th 1970 - years later I realized who Janis joplin was- that poor soulTo this day, I still get tears in my eyes and miss the terrific performer and entertainer that was Freddy Mercury
from Queen-I miss him badly
I do like country music - Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Roy Clark, Old Willie, Merle, George Jones , Ronny Milsap, Harold Jenkins-(thats Conway Twitty), Vince Gill, Travis Tritt, Marty Stuart, Highway 101, Sugarland, Rascal Flatts, Martina McBride, Toby Keith, and Brooks and Dunn . I miss good old southern rock like the Allman Brothers, Charlie Daniels and Lynard Skynard. I still like David Allen Coe and think Bocephus (Hank Wms Jr)is so talented and musically gifted

Fred Phelps & Westboro Baptist Church "visit wounded soldiers" at Walter Reed
..
April 6, 2006 - Westboro Baptist Church patriarch, Fred Phelps, took his cult members to the gates of Walter Reed Army Medical Center to demonstrate their brand of religion to passersby.Phelps' cult has been protesting across the US at funerals of fallen soldiers, but he has recently met some resistance.A group called The Patriot Guard Riders now attend funerals of fallen soldiers (but only at the request of family members) and protect mourners from the disgusting messages that Phelps and cult are marketing. The PGR's don't counterprotest - they protect. The groups that gathered against Phelps' cult on this day protected and counterprotested.Because state and federal leaders are acting to halt funeral protests like the Phelps cult carries out, Phelps has vowed to relocate his protests to US military and VA hospitals and VA homes.
They were met with vocal resistance on their attempt today.
Television:
I love news and watch what I can - I need to know whats going on in the world - I like Larry King , Nancy Grace, Anderson Cooper and Tom Brokaw- I still watch Jeopardy and still love ER- I like all the Law and Orders and CSI shows and Dog the Bounty Hunter. I miss Carol Burnett, Smothers Brothers, Hee Haw , Laugh In, The Gong Show, Bandstand and Soul Train and Wolfman Jack with the Midnight Special. Ellen Degeneres cracks me up and makes me laugh out loud. I miss Jonathon Winters, Red Skelton and George Carlin
Books:
I read the Bible and many books on how to be strong in this unfair world. I also enjoy History, Biographies, and any books about the Viet Nam war era and the brave veterans who survived.
THANK YOU VETERANS
Heroes:
Every single veteran and current volunteer soldier defending this country. They can never be thanked enough - gold star mothers - who have lost their sons and daughters and all wounded soldiers and veterans who sacrifice daily with their pain and memories. I also have a special place in my heart for all firefighters- my great-grandfather and grandfather were both volunteer firemen and they are truly unique and brave- I also find anybody that works with terminally ill children absolutely beyond amazing and cannot begin to imagine how they do their job daily - they are truly special- also every underpaid teacher and day care provider who inspire our little ones and hold all our futures in their hands. God Bless Them All
