About Me

* DREAMING IN COLOUR *
It comes as no surprise that Australian dance-pop sensation Indigo chose to title her first album “The Colour Of Dreams”. Some of her songs come to her in her dreams. One of these was “Take Me There”, which the 23-year old Malaysian-born beauty says set the tone for the record of the album.
“I’m a light sleeper so I remember my dreams very clearly,” Indigo says. “The title ‘The Colour Of Dreams’ is an obvious one for me. Because the songs seem to be telling the story of my dreams — from writing songs to meeting my producer Audius by chance on a plane, and recording my album. Plus of course when you have a name like Indigo, it’s inevitable you’d use the word ‘colour’ in the title.”
“The Colour Of Dreams” is filled with infectious dance-pop sing-alongs as “We Said We’d Try”, “Wiseman” and “Pulling Me Back” which reflect her early love for Ace of Base and Tina Cousinsl. But the atmospheric “Stranger” and “Better” with string-arrangements show off her talents s a writer, singer and arranger. Indigo has been writing songs since her school days. She penned most of the album. She plays piano and learned classical singing.
“I want to be seen as an artist who is credible, who creates her own work,” Indigo points out. “I wrote my first song in my home studio when I was 14. I realised then that my music is my voice, and I have a great passion for it.”
There has already been international interest in “The Colour Of Dreams”. Indigo is currently planning a stage show will including a segment with just her and a female DJ, and another with her on piano accompanied by a violin player.
Indigo arrived in Perth from Malaysia when she was five years old with her parents and younger brother. She got most of her early training while singing in Church and school choirs.
When she mapped out her music career she wanted to work with just one Australian producer — Audius (Delta Goodrem, Rahsaan Patterson, Jessica Mauboy). As luck had it, they met on a flight, and he asked her to join a girl group he was forming with his business partner Jamie Huber. The girl group idea didn’t eventuate. But they realised that Indigo was a solo star in the making. Indigo moved to Sydney and worked with international producers as Leon and Seb Ivanov and European songwriters Flip Carlson, Klas Wahl and Tom Nichols.
