Set in modern day Venice Beach, this character study uniquely examines cause and effect, unintended consequences and the duality of brotherhood. Inventive and wise beyond his years, young RJ is an artist, a chess master, and on a mission to find out what happened to his dead girlfriend. But he's not the only one. A speed-fueled gangster, a petty but vicious drug dealer and the cops all think RJ has the answers.
The film stars Paul Rodriguez, Jr., or P-Rod, who holds two gold medals from the street skateboarding competition of the X-Games. P Rod is so highly regarded as an athlete that he is one of only five people in the world with a shoe named after him by Nike. "Vicious Circle" also stars Emily Rios of "Quinceanera," which won the Audience Award and the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival this year, Perrey Reeves of "Entourage," and Cody McMains from "Everwood" and "Scary Movie" 1 and 2. P-Rod is the son of comedian Paul Rodriguez, who will also star in the movie.
Writer/Director Paul Boyd has generated a great deal of enthusiasm for his first script. He is an established Music Video Director, with clients such as Shania Twain and Sting.
