I started piecing together these panels in 2000. In Japan, kimono are no longer worn very often, and the more beautiful silks are only brought out on special occasions - the rest of the time they sit in closets. I feel kimono should be displayed, and started piecing them into panels that are more wall-friendly (to display an actual kimono requires a lot of room). The fabrics I use include kimono silks, linens and wools as well as tenugui and furoshiki. The fabric is secured to the back of wooden boards which eliminates the need for additional framing. Each is original and I am quite happy to take custom orders....they turn out better when I am designing with a space or person in mind. Thanks for looking!Crystal
