YoninBayashi debuted 1972, when they were high school students. Time of the dawn of Japanese rock.
They debuted with remarkable musical techniques with a great originality, sense and ideas. It didn’t take hours for them to be a big name.
The original members are Daiji Okai (drums) , Katsutoshi Morizono (vocal / gtr) , Shinichi Nakamura (bass) and Hidemi Sakashita (kbd).
They released first album "Isshoku Sokuhatsu" from the major ( Toho records ) at 1974 when they were still 19 to 20 years old young. They put a plenty of ideas, new recording techniques into this album.
The band became a one of the best rock band in Japanese music scene with this release and the album became a legend for Japanese first progressive rock album.
1975, former bassist Shinichi Nakamure quit the band and Masahide Sakuma became a following bassist.
This year YoninBayashi released their first single "SORATOBUENBAN NI OTOUTO GA NOTTAYO ( UFO )" from Toho records. After that, they quit Toho records and move to SONY records.
1976, YoninBayashi released their 2nd original album "Golden Picnics" and 2nd single "Lady Violetta" from SONY records.
Just after this release, the vocalist / guitarist Katsutoshi Morizono suddenly quit the band from his health problem.
After that YoninBayashi looked for their new member.
1976, They met Mitsuru Satoh at Sapporo/ Hokkaido. They did some studio session with Satoh and he became a new member.October 1977, they released "PRINTED JELLY" from CANYON records.
After that they did a lot of live and the tour all over Japan including the opening act for Ritchie Blackmore’s RAINBOW.
1978, They released 4th original album "PAO" from CANYON records. July 29th they did a remarkable live-show "PAO concert" at HIBIYA YA-ON.
July 1979, YoninBayashi released 5th album "NEO-N" from CANYON records. They did just two night gigs and they quit the band.
1989, Okai, Sakashita and Sakuma reunion the group and they recorded and released YoninBayashi’s 6th album "DANCE" from BMG.
After this release, they did live at MZA ARIAKE for 3 concerts with original members including Katsutoshi Morizono and Mitsuru Satoh.
After that time, they did a several lives.
1993: at Meguro , 1994 at Koutouku, 1995 as well,
1996 SAKUMA SUMMIT at Shinjuku, 1999 at Hibiya Ya-On,
2001 at Fukushima.
2001,They released 5 CDs box set "From The Vaults".
April 2002, "ROCK LEGENDS" live at Shinjuku with "Smoky Medicine".
July 2002 at Fuji Rock Festival.
Oct 2002, "ROCK LEGENDS" with ZUNOU KEISATSU.
Nov. 2002, "SAKUMA SUMMIT" with GLAY at Shibuya AX.
April 2003, "For Yutaka Mogi" at Shibuya Quattro.
Oct-Nov. 2003, "ROCK LEGENDS" with PROCOL HARUM.
