2004年結成。幾度かのドラマーの加入、脱退゠’経て2005å¹´6月shigakuの加入後、活動を本格化〠‚
翌年7月29日、現メンバーでの初ライブを皮切 りに下北沢、渋谷、八王子を中心に数多くの ライブ活動を重ね動員を伸ばす。
2006年2月22日には初の自主企画となる「78 light years away vol.1」を渋谷CLUB CRAWLにて開催。
120人を動員、同日発売された5曲入りマキシ゠·ãƒ³ã‚°ãƒ«ã€Œ78 light years away」は現在までにライブ会場の販売のみで50 0枚を売り上げる。
その後もライブ活動、無料配布ＣＤ、シング ルリリースなどを続け、
2007年1月28日には「78 light years away vol.2」を下北沢ＭＯＳＡⅰＣにて開催。
同日、7曲入りミニアルバム「OIL78PROOFã€ã‚’ç™ºå £²ã€‚
また同年、7月16日より東名阪８箇所を巡るシ ョートツアー「TOUR 2007 pigmet green 18」を終え、
ツアーファイナルとなる「78 light years away vol.3」を下北沢MOSAiCにて開催。
165人を動員し、ツアー初日にリリースされた 4曲入りマキシシングル「viridian」は今もなお 新しい人の元へ届いている。OIL78PROOF is a three piece band of Tokyo formed in 2004. After serveral changes of drummers, the band finally found its last piece, Shigaku, and were able to focus on live gigs and they started to perform actively in Shimokitazawa, Shibuya, and Hachiouji area, and had gained the audience through this time.
In2006, theyorganized their first own event "78 light years away vol.1" at Shibuya Club Crawl, which has gathered over 120 people in the audience. And their maxi single "78 light years away" which released on that day has been sold over 500 copies by now, even if they are only available at live shows.
While they constantly released of singles and giving out free CD copies, the band never stopped perfoming.
In 2007, they have decided to organize their next event "78 light years away vol.2" in Shimokitazawa MOSAiC. Later on that year, the bando headed out for the west with "TOUR2007 pigmet green 18" which were held in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka total 8 venues. When the tour final "78 light years away vol.3", they came back to Shimokitazawa MOSAiC with a crowd of 165 people. Their 4-song-maxi single " Viridian" released on the same night sold many copies, and still seeks for future audiences to come.
