ASPARAGUS is an unusual music band that has four biggest elements important for music; high quality melody that touches people’s hearts, the sophisticated sense of melody arrangements, sweet voice people fall in love with, and the outstanding performance.
In February 2002, Shinobu Watanabe (Vo & Guitar from CAPTAIN HEDGE HOG), Junichiro Yamashita (Bass & Cho from NICE MARBLES), Masakazu Ichise (Drums & Cho from POPCATCHER) got together for their own project in Yokohama. In October, they joined the Walt Disney 100th year anniversary CD, “DIVE INTO DISNEYâ€, for “FOREVER AND EVER†with the cover of Whinny the Pooh. Other artists for this CD are BEAT CRUSADERS, REEL BIG FISH, ALL and SNUFF etc. And then Pooh shaped records were released from WALT DISNEY RECORDS. In November, they self-released their first album “Tiger Styleâ€.
In June 2004, they released their 2nd and 3rd album on the same day, and on two different labels. Their second album “KAPPA â… â€ was released on their home label, 3P3B. The third release “KAPPA Ⅱ†was released on the Pizza of Death Records.
In June 2005, they released the maxi-single, with two songs, “Yes/Noâ€.
In September 2006, they joined “THE VERY BEST OF PIZZA OF DEATHâ€, released from Pizza of Death Records. At the end of 2006, Junichiro Yamashita (Bass & Cho) withdrew from the band.
In January 2007, they released the split mini-album with BEAT CRUSADERS, “NIGHT ON THE PLANETâ€. After that, Naou Hara (BASS), ex-SHORT CIRCUIT, joined ASPARAGUS. In October, their fourth full album “MONT BLANC†was released.
In February 2008, they had their final tour of “MONT BLANC TOUR†at SHIBUYA-AX in Tokyo (SOLD OUT!!). In April, “NON-BLANK TOUR†was held at CLUB QUATTRO in Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka (SOLD OUT!!).
A set of two LIVE CD’s “ASPARAGUS LIVE†will be released in July this summer. And in the same month of July they will perform in FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL’08. real editor best profile tools real editor best profile tools
