maiko kodama started playing piano when she was 5years old. she was influenced by classical, hymn, and Japanese folk music. She started to listen to more popular music when she traveled to New York to study at age of 18. There she found drum'n'bass, trip hop, rock, and other music which she listens today.
Maiko belong to a group called KAZENOHITO which translates to "THE PEOPLE OF THE WIND". In KAZENOHITO, there are DJ's, MC's, bands, graphic artists and etc... Members in KAZENOHITO are DJ DENNO, JPC band, Smorgas, MC WISE, underslowjams, Junglist Youth and still growing today.
Maiko released her first drum'n' bass EP "Hatsukaze" in 2003. After the EP she started to sing with JPC band and became a member in 2004. She has been composing many songs for JPC band and working continues.
Maiko started new project "sosui" in 2006 with guitarist hidechi. She wanted to have a band which she can be herself to the world. Soft singing voice of maiko and melody from hidechi's guitar creates world which people are forgetting today. Today we all tend to forget and miss nature which surround us everyday. Even living in the city we need to stop once in a while to look around and make sure to remember who we are and what surrounds us. For maiko sosui is what she has been thinking and the roots of herself to the world. sosui has been playing in cafes and clubs around the city, and released first album "prana" in October of 2007 and continue in journey of sosui.
