ダンスミュージックの坩堝New Yorkã§æœ€ã‚‚éŸ³æ¥½æ€§ã®é«˜ãã€ã‹ã¤æ–°ã—ã„è©¦ã¿ã§ä» –とは一線を画したドラムン・ベース・パーム†ã‚£ãƒ¼ã€ŒSense of Groove」。メイン・フロアはDrum'n'Bass、セカン㠃‰ãƒ•ãƒ­ã‚¢ã¯Nu-Jazzを基本に、２人のレジデント DJ、takeya.とDANJOHに加え頻繁に各フロアへゲス トDJを招待し音楽性の幅を広げ、NYにある他だ®ãƒ‰ãƒ©ãƒ ãƒ³ãƒ™ãƒ¼ã‚¹ã®ãƒ‘ーティの中で特に異彩゠’放っていた。海外からはロンドンSwerveのDJ Addictionã‚„DJ FlightそしてFull CycleのSuvなど、国内からはSpiritual Life Music、IRMA Recordã‚„!K7 Recordsから多彩なゲスト陣を招く。2001年から㠁®ï¼’年間、レジデントDJ２人の所属するレーム™ãƒ«Phuturistic Bluesがほぼ毎月West Sideにある クラブ Filter 14で開催していた。Drum'n'Bassã«æµ¸ã‹ã£ã¦ã„ã‚‹äº ºã¯ã‚‚ちろん、そうでない人にも違った良質だªéŸ³ã®ã‚¢ã‚¦ãƒˆãƒ—ットでアプローチし常にお客だ•ã‚“の耳を刺激してきた結果、他のDrum'n'Bassパ ーティだけでなく他のどのパーティとも一線 を画した独自のスタイルを確立。それはNYで㠂‚éŸ³çš„ã«æ–°ã—ã„è©¦ã¿ã§ã€ã‚ã‚Šãã†ã§ãªã‹ãªã‹ç „¡ã„音の集結、パーティカラー、そして人種㠁®ãƒãƒ©ã‚¨ãƒ†ã‚£ãƒ¼ã‚’生んだ。
"Sense of Groove" or SOG is a name of a night event run by a record-label Phuturistic Bluez, which was held for two years in the center of the musical melting-pot, club "Filter 14," of New York City.
SOG stood out amongst all other parties in NY because of its unique concept. Although Phuturistic Bluez is a record-label specializing Drum'n'Bass, the party's concept was to "be border-less, and nothing is more important than quality." They set two resident DJs, .takeya. in the main floor playing Liquid Funk, the soulful side of Drum'n'Bass, and DANJOH in the second floor playing Nu-Jazz. Besides, they frequently invited guest DJs to each floor in order to broaden the musical range. DJ Addiction from Swerve, DJ Flight from BBC 1-Xtra, and DJ Suv from Full Cycle were the ones played as guests from abroad. Also, they brought various kinds of guests from the labels such as Spiritual Life Music, IRMA Records, and !K7 Records.
As s result of their almost stubborn insistency of musical theme (their sense of groove!) trying to illustrate the new dimension of dance music for Drum'n'Bass junkies, beginners, and all other listeners, they achieved their original scene incomparable to any other parties in NY. It was socially new attempt, too, because it connected people of different color and social background by appropriating the types of music into different genre and styles but being primarily influenced by the foundation, the Soul.
Then, on Dec. 29th in 2004, SOG was held at a club, "The Room," in Tokyo Japan. This time, both residents played together, fusing Liquid Funkand Nu-Jazz on a single floor. It brought so much success to them that SOG crew found out the feasibility of moving their basis to Japan. Now, "Sense of Groove" is our own and has a monthly night event at the same club, "The Room" in Tokyo.
