Composer/pianist born in Tokyo.
Learning piano at a young age, Kazumasa Hashimoto quickly took an interest in composing rather than playing standard classical pieces. At the same time also took an interest in making music with computers.
Graduating from a College of Music in Tokyo with a major in song writing, he currently releases his own music as well composes for commercials and acts as a producer for other artists.
In April 2004 he released his first album "yupi" through the PLOP label. This work embodied all the sensibilities and experiences which he had accumulated throughout the years as a musician. In May 2005, his second album "epitaph" was released to worldwide critical acclaim. The mixture of piano, orchestra, electronics and field recordings brought about a deep, imaginative and fantastical soundscape. The album was reviewed in over 40 publications in Europe and America, with Germany's DE:BUG awarding it 5 stars as well as tracks being used by BBC TV.
He has released work on a compilation for the American Studio Dregs label, as well as Ekkehard Ehlers' compilation for the German Staubgold label. In Japan, he plays piano for world's end girlfriend, World Standard and Shione Yukawa regularly.
As a live act, he has played in Sakamoto Ryuichi's event, "code" with bands like Sketch Show and has also supported Germany's MORRMUSIC Japan Tour.
