In 2001, BUNZOH, playing alone as a singer-songwritter in a local folk club, formed a new band named TARJEELING.
In early days, TARJEELING was an ordinary 3-piece guitar band(vocal&guitar, bass, drums), but soon he had been bored with this style. So he got a rhythm machine, and had come to make the rhythms by himself.
In 2002, AYAKO joined the band. She’d never played the bass, and had never joined any bands. BUNZOH knew her before(they had worked at the same bookstore), and he found a true punk spirit in her behavior.
Then the basic TARJEELING’s style was formed― freaky rhythms by the machine, the songwriting manner based on simplicity of punk~new wave, melodic screaming by the male voice(by BUNZOH) and sweet female vocals(by AYAKO). In FUKUOKA they played with the local bands, and sometimes with the visitor bands― AFRIRAMPO from OSAKA, THE DYNAMITE CLUB from NY, and so on.
In 2003 they released their first album “ALL CRACKED†(CD-R), and in Apr 2006,they released the second album “LIFE GOES ON†(CD). Both albums are released from BUNZOH’s own label “TAGAHILL RECORDS†. Especially, the influence from the various music(not only punk, new wave) is expressed in the latter album ―latin, psychedelic, 80’s minimal indie pop.
