About Me

de-VICE is a completely pretentious new-fangled outlet (here read mid-2005 origins, somewhere in the vicinity of "once upon a time"...) - if only because it sets itself absolutely no perimeters - for an incorrigible group of tightwads with minimal funds residing in Tokyo (Japan), as well as in Sydney and Melbourne in Australia...whatever. You won't get any applause or plaudit points from us, but you may stumble across something vaguely interesting; who knows? Like we said - who cares...? Certainly not the woe-begotten fools who edit up this meandering beast. Interviews, cultural sniping, plus crappy movie & muzak reviews, and the promise of some sports bollocks by a few new bods... stay tuned if you really can be bothered... Methinks Andrez, Tim, Saori, Johnny and our other resident hacks would prefer to be drinking beer and sake than putting any effort whatsoever into de-VICE bollocks. ...zzz... Huh...? Where were we...? http://de-vice-third.tripod.com

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

All the people we've interviewed and talked up in the three issues of de-VICE to date: MAMORU OSHII, PLAID, KHAN ORAL, SI BEGG, BEAT TAKESHI, NEIL LANDSTRUMM, MICHAEL ARIAS, KENJI KAWAI, TATSUYA OE, FANTASTIC PLASTIC MACHINE, GOLDIE, SATOSHI KON, APHEX TWIN, FUMIYA TANAKA, JOEY BELTRAM, JEFF MILLS, WONG KAR WAI, FAMKE JANSSEN, ANDREW WEATHERALL, CABARET VOLTAIRE, SKALPEL, DJ KENTARO, HEXSTATIC, GENE FARRIS, Q-BERT, KID KOALA, AUTECHRE, LITTLE NOBODY, DIGITAL PRIMATE, ZEN PARADOX, LUKE VIBERT, ISNOD, etc, etc. Quiz BRION GYSIN a bit, and talk toiletries with DUCHAMP. Oh yeah, and I guess GOD would be a buzz - a good scoop, anyways. We could always get in a rabbi, conjure up a clay figure of the magazine, and bring it to life using the ineffable Name of God. Cool.

My Blog

a quickie with MR. SCRUFF

de-VICE just caught up with Andrew Carthy, the rather esteemed Mr. Scruff on the Ninja Tune label, and had one very quick chat: see here: de-VICE #3 - Mr. Scruff

de-VICE magazine - online, dodgy + free!

Well, we finally succumbed to MySpace, though our resistance was more laziness than any exceptionally defiant principle. We at de-VICE have no principles, and we're proud of that. Except maybe again...
