Chris Loane, A.K.A The Loane Ranger, has been playing in bands all of his life.
After a couple of fledgeling projects, he joined the Grace Babies in Halifax, N.S in the mid-late nineties. Chris and the Babies toured extensively across the country, and had two albums, "Lure" and "Frequency", being released in less than two years. the Grace Babies gained noteriety as a highly talented, melodic rock band with a focus on melody and Harmony.
After moving to Toronto, The Grace Babies decided to call it quits.
Out of the ashes of that band came National Anthem. A power-pop, 70's throwback band with the same melodic sensibility as The Grace Babies, but also with a classic rock feel.
National Anthem also had two albums. "Sing Along If You Know the Words" and Radio On" and had great luck opening for bands such as Sam Roberts, Sloan, The Watchmen, Treble Charger, Bowling For Soup, The Pursuit of Happiness, and many others.
Alas, National Anthem called it quits as well, although they like to refer to it as a "Permanent Vacation".
Throughout that time Chris was also writing solo stuff and playing the odd show on his own.
For a change, he played for Swing-king and brother-in-law Johnny Favourite for a year while he was in National Anthem. All jazzy chords and harmonies, but the experience of playing with such great players was a great benefit to him.
Chris was also commissioned to write a couple of songs for an independent film that Chaz Thorne, his best friend, had written and produced. The song "Better Off Here" was recorded in the CBC studios in Halifax by In Flight Safety's John Mullane.
Chris has also had the honor of working with some great producers, including Moe Berg, Brendan Maguire, Krisjan Leslie, Fred Maher, Ian Blurton, David Baxter, and most recently Steve Singh.
This is Chris's first venture as a solo artist.Chris is also an accomplished actor. Graduating from the Theatre Program at Dalhousie University, Chris landed a couple of acting roles in Halifax before moving up to Toronto for music. Since moving to T.O, he has steadily found work in both fim and television.
