About Me
BuGRADS..were formed in January 1995 by Izumi(vox),Junko(Guitar),Makiko(Bass)and Yukie(Drum),Tokyo.Japan.Izumi and Makiko's first meeting was April 1993 at university when they were
age of 18.
Soon they hang together all the time to talk about music,also to go to Punk gigs.
The two friends had been jamming together and the first band they formed
with Izumi's old friend Yukie(ex.Drummer).
That band's name was so stupid,they won't tell nobody...
They played tons of songs of THE MUFFS,FASTBACKS,SNUFF,BAD RELIGION
etc...
They just thought playng together was so much fun but maybe they should play original songs would be much fun.In 1994,they started to make original songs and Junko joined in Feburary
1995.Junko was their senior of university.They didn't have any aims what kind of band they wanted to be.
Because their roots of music were different.Izumi's roots were PUNK music.,THE CLASH,BUZZCOCKS,THE JAM,SEX PISTOLS,THE BUSINESS,COCK SPARRER etc...
Junko's roots were HARDCORE and THRASH.,G.B.H,DEAD KENNEDYS,
EXPLOITED, DAMNED etc...
Makiko's roots were NEW WAVE and US HARDCORE.,THE CURE,
JOY DIVISION, MINOR THREAT,FUGAZI,7 SECONDS etc...
Yukie's roots were HARD ROCK and HEAVY METAL.,INFECTIOUS GROOVES,SUICIDAL TENDENCIES etc...So they did just as their wanted to play own instruments,no order,
just played impulsively.
WHO CARES MUSIC CATEGORY,SUCKS!
They don't care people think they are PUNK,HARD CORE,GARAGE.BuGRADS..sound is really unique.
It's short,Fast,Pop,but complicated.
All Japanese lyrics.
Izumi 's lyrics are based on the beauty to be found in poverty and simplicity,
life's ironies,happiness,inconsistent things.
And she makes expressive story tale for each song,their short songs have
very significant implication of dairy life.Their first album "AMINO BLOCK"was recorded in Long Beach,CA. in 1998.
At same time,they had little tours around Los Angels,CA.
"AMINO BLOCK"released fall of 1998.
They had also Japan tour at that time and tons of gigs around Tokyo for 3 years.June of 2001,Yukie got pregnant and she decided to leave the band.
They looked for a new female drummer,after 3 months later they finally
found new dummer chiyo.
Chiyo is a Rock drummer,she never drum fast songs like BuGRADS..
Her roots are ROCK,RIOT GRRL., Joan Jett,Suzi Quatro,Hole,L7 etc...
She spent hard time to acclimatize drumming fast songs several months.
But BuGRADS.. restarted to perform powerfull with new drummer.November of 2002,Chiyo got pregnant.BuGRADS.. had many schedule to
perform,so they need friend to help drumming while Chiyo taking
maternity leave and childâ€rearing for 2 years.June of 2004,finally Chiyo got back to BuGRADS..
They recorded 2nd mini album DEMO in 2005.
They keep performing powerful around Tokyo.The end of March 2009,Chiyo left BuGRADS..
She made up her mind to spend more time with her kid,
then she hardly decided.In April 2009 BuGRADS.. got New Drummer!
His name is 'MOO'.
He is a real gentleman who has GREEN MOHICAN hair!
Yes,BuGRADS.. finally met MALE Drummer and they're getting WILD and
TIGHT and POP!!
Will see.................Their faith is keep playing music together with fun till they got old grandma,
grandpa.However their own life get busy, music urge them,They won't stop playing together.
Because,they are BEST FRIENDS and grow into women together!
