Band Members: Since the early 80’s Pirates (illegal) Radio has been going strong in London despite the efforts of the government agency the D.T.I. (department of the trade and industry) to shut these operations down. This is a hard job for them because as they take one pirate off, and other in ready and on. They are small team of specialist and are over. Stretched easily. They have to physically attend the transmitting site and dismantal the set up. Taking time to locater the stations transmitter site. It can take as long as six hours to take one station off. Basically two stations a day is all they can manage. With fifteen stations on at any one time you can understand the job they are up against. It takes roughly two hours to set up a station if you know what your doing.
1990, was the beginning of my contributions in the scene starting one evening with a call that my partners in crime Mr …… and ….. , they save how got there hands of a band 1 transmitter, set to the frequency 91.95 fm. “Bring some records Stitch and lets go on air†Always having a few weird beats around, shifted there with my then hardcore house beats to meet 2 box more of a mixture of stuff from planet rock to Doug Lazy, “Away we go London!†We never knew how to rig up proper, we ran straight out the mixer to a daiapole, stuck that out tie window of a 9 story flat and BANG!
